THANK YOU LORD for our fantastic players, awesome coaches, outstanding fans, and loving families! But thank you most Lord for the only victory that really counts: "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life . . . In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creation, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord." Now, that's TRUE VICTORY!!!

Saturday, September 15
It was a beautiful ceremony and luncheon today, as Angela Hubner was installed into the Colonial Dames. With 28 proven ancestors as worthy contributors to the American colonies before the year 1700, Angela chose as her primary ancestor Colonel Edward Dorsey II, member of the House of Burgesses, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Colonel Dorsey's father, Edward I, came into Virginia in 1636, his occupation being a shipwright. He settled in Lower Norfolk County, surrounded by other ancestors of Miss Hubner. One notable grandfather was Thomas Todd I, who was a justice and vestryman of Elizabeth River Parish and later Lynnhaven Parish. His land, purchased in 1638, was "between Captain Thomas Willoughby and Captain Adam Thoroughgood" near Little Creek and what is today the Thoroughgood House in Virginia Beach. Colonel Dorsey's wife, Sarah Wyatt, descended from a noble line as well. The Dorseys, Wyatts, and Todds moved to Anne Arundel County, MD, in 1649, where they founded Annapolis. The Naval Academy still stands on Dorsey land. Maryland family lines include Lawrence (one of Angela's DAR patriots), Orrick (the revolutionary patriot Angela researched and found this summer), Pendleton (Angela's Uncle Edmund is buried in Bruton Parish, Williamsburg; Edmund is the brother of Angela's Nathaniel Pendleton, hero of the Battle of Great Bridge), Rockhold (Guild of Colonial Artisans & Craftsmen), Owings, Randall, & Talbott (all 3 founders of cities in Maryland), Richardson (Middle Neck Hundred), Cromwell (needs no explanation) and Mariarte (professor in 1687). Primary focus will be given to HUNDLEY, ORRICK, PENDLETON, CROMWELL & WOODWORTH lines, in the future. We welcome Angela to our society & we pray continued blessings upon her. Indeed, we have a goodly heritage.
