The annual banquet was held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. As usual, the food was outstanding and the coaches did a great job presenting awards and bragging about the Dogs and Lady Dogs in this banner year! The Dogs and Lady Dogs are currently tied for 2nd in the prestigious Lone Star Cup Award!

Coach Berg was presented the Assistant Basketball Coach of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches on Saturday, May 5, 2007. Coach Lieberman was also presented with a State Championship watch at the same ceremony. Austin Falke was honored for his selection to the All-Star team and for his selection as the 1A D1 Player of the Year.
Josh Culp and Austin Falke were selected Academic All-State for 2007.

Cody Schneider qualified in the 300 hurdles for the State Track Meet in Austin on Friday, May 11, 2007.

THE 2007 BULLDOGS CAPTURED ANOTHER TEAM HONOR BY POSTING THE BEST 3 POINT PERCENTAGE IN THE STATE FOR CLASS A DIVISION 1 TEAMS.

Austin Falke has been selected the TABC Class A Division I player of the year for 2007.
In addition, he has been invited to participate in the TABC All Star Game the first weekend in May in San Antonio @ Trinity University, and he has been selected to participate in the THSCA game in Ft. Worth the last week of July @ TCU. More details will be posted later.

TABC Awards Bulldogs Top Free Throw Shooting Award-Hilton receives Academic All-State
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches announced that the Thorndale Varsity Bulldog Basketball team had the best free throw percentage (68.8%) in the state (Class A)for 2006. The team will be honored with a plaque recognizing the outstanding achievement.

The Bulldogs (boys) track team competed extremely well at the Region IV meet in Brenham on Friday and Saturday, April 28, 29, 2006.
Tad Cook advanced to the State Meet in both the triple jump (43'5" 1st), and the long jump (23'9 1/2" 1st). The Dogs finished 4th out of 43 teams with 40 points.
The 800 meter relay finished 3rd, 1:35.45, and the sprint relay finished 4th 45.02.

For the Lady Dogs,who also competed better than ever, Morgan Youngblood finished 1st in the 3200 meter run 12:49.01,Lindsay Brymer came in 6th 13:26.39, Lindsay Youngblood finished 5th in the 800 meter run 2:34.08, the 800 meter relay team finished 3rd 1:53.05, Morgan Youngblood finished 3rd in the 1600 meter run 5:49.66, Olivia Unnasch came in 6th 6:05.95,
The 1600 meter relay finished 6th 4:28.21.The Lady Dogs finished 6th out of 38 teams with 34 points.

The Thorndale Boy's and Girl's track teams won the District for the 2nd consecutive year!

The Thorndale Boys came home with their second consecutive District Track title yesterday. The team scored 163 points with the closest competitor having 90, a dominating performance by these young men. Top four finishers in each event move on to the area meet. The Area meet is next Wednesday, April 12th at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station where the team looks to defend its Area Championship from last year. BOY'S GOLF TEAM WINS DISTRICT, FINISHES 8TH IN REGION IV
Boys finished 8th (785- 2 day score) out of 16 teams in regionals.
Hollye Schwarz finished 16th overall.

Monday, April 10, 2006, the golf team competed at Quail Valley Golf Course in San Marcos.

The girl's team included: Kayla Caffey, Lauren Culp, Lacie Kreidel, and Hollye Schwarz.
They played well and finished fourth. Hollye our only senior on the team had the best round of the girls with a 112 finishing 6th individually. She qualified for the Region IV tournament. Hollye has worked very hard over the past four years working towards this goal.
The Boy's team included: Garet Ging, Ryan Heine, Jared Heine, Blake Cuba, and Blake Doughty. Britian Mackenzie played as a medalist. The boy's won the District Tournament with a combined score of 395. We were led by Blake Doughty, who shot an 88 and forced a playoff for the individual top spot. Blake lost in the play off to a senior from Bartlett. The team qualified for the Region IV tournament.   Jared Heine will be making his second consective trip to Brenham.
The Region IV tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, April 24th and 25th. The tournament format has the boys playing in the morning on Monday and the girls in the afternoon. The schedule will be reversed on Tuesday. The event will take place at Brenham Country Club.

On Wednesday, March 22, 2006, the State Semi-Finalist Bulldogs were presented their
medals before the entire school body and many community members.

The team and coaches want to personally thank the staff, students, and community for attending the assembly.
The presentation was awesome! The students were
GREAT!. Mr. Denny,THS principal, and Dr. Breithaupt, UIL director, made the whole thing very special!

Dr. Breithaupt was really impressed with the behavior of our students.

The team and coaches truly appreciate the
recognition and support shown by all!

On Sunday, March 27, 2006, St. Paul Lutheran also honored the team by introducing players and coaches to the congregation.

BULLDOGS OUTSTANDING SEASON COMES TO AN END. Click here for a link to the UIL web site
The Bulldogs outstanding season came to an end Saturday, March 4, 2006, with a loss (43-61) to Rivercrest High School, the eventual State Champs. The Dogs were one of four remaining teams left in Division 1A, a feat never before accomplished by any Thorndale basketball team. The Bulldogs finished the year with 29 victories and 6 losses, District Champs for the 4th consecutive year, Bi-District Champs, Area Champs, Regional Semi-Final Champs, Region IV Champs, and Final Four State Semi-Finalists.

Unfortunately, due to the current UIL format, the Dogs were denied the opportunity to play in Austin at the Erwin center like the 2A through 5A divisions. The format has been changed back so that in 2007, all 4 Class A teams will be gathered in Austin to play in the venue they deserve.

There will be a formal medal ceremony Wednesday, March 22, 2006,after spring break for the 2006 team. Dr. Charles Breithaupt from the UIL will make the presentation to this very special group of young men.

The Dogs defeated Normangee 61-51 on Friday, March 3, 2006, at 8 PM @Southwestern University in Georgetown. The victory moved the Dogs into the Final Four basketball teams in Class A. The Bulldogs face Bogata Riverside at Noon on Saturday in Georgetown.

Adults $8.00 Students $5.00 No Passes. Children 5 and under, no charge. Doors open at 5 PM. Lindsay vs. Bogata Rivercrest 6 PM (Region 3),
Thorndale vs. Normangee 8 PM (Region 4). Winners play Saturday @ Noon.

The Dogs did it again. They defeated Snook, 59-53 in Elgin. The Bulldog fans came out in full force and cheered the Varsity Dogs to victory.

The basketball team defeated Louise 67-46 in Schulenburg.
The victory advances the Dogs to the area game which will be played Friday, February 24, in Elgin, game time is tentatively set for 7 PM.

The team and coaches would like to thank those fans who made it to the game, and

Tuesday night the Lady Dogs defeated Holland giving the team a birth in the playoffs. The softball team improved to 8-2 and will be playing the BI-District round the first week of May. This is the first time the girls have made the playoffs in softball.

It was a very tough course that was rocky, hilly, and narrow at
times. The boys competed well and gave it their best.

The Cross Country team traveled to San Antonio for the Regional contest on Saturday, November 5, 2005. The team finished 9th overall, a great improvement from last year, and Brandon Irwin finished 13th, barely missing a trip to State next Saturday.


The Cross Country Teams traveled to Shiner on Monday, October 24, 2005, for the District meet.
The varsity finished second and earned a spot at the Region IV Meet in San Antonio for the third year in a row! (Saturday, November 5 @ UTSA)

Brandon Irwin placed 2nd with a time of 18:19. The winning time was
18:17.

The Junior High Boys won the District Championship due to great participation and a great effort by all runners. The victorious Dogs who ran the tough 2 mile course included: Enrique Torres (10-16:44), Dustin Schneider (11-14;26), Caleb Saunders (12-14:28), Jarrett Hall (14-15:04), Aurelio Martinez (16-15:17), Crispin Gonzales (18-15:52), Job Mason (22-16:20),Ryan Piper (24-16:44), Brendon Munoz (25-17:04), Josh Ware (26-17:42), Isaac Leyendecker (27-17:42), Cardray Payne (28-18:08), and Jordan Hinistroza (30-19:56). The JH boys cross country team competed Tuesday, October 11, in Giddings and did very well.
They finished third overall, competing against Hutto, Smithville, and Giddings.

Varsity Bulldogs defeated the Jarrell Cougars Monday, May 2, 2005, in a warm-up game. Tied 1-1, the game was won in the 9th inning. Final score 2-1. This brings improves the Dogs record to 23-4.

Varsity Bulldogs defeated Thrall on Saturday 9-4 to decide the first and second place seeding for District 26A in this years playoffs. This improves their record to 22-4. The Bulldogs are now seeded first and their opponent will be the Menard Yellowjackets.

2005 Boys Track Update
STATE TRACK RESULTS:
Tad Cook takes home two 3rd place medals in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. The 400 Relay team finished 7th with a time of 43.5.


REGION IV REPORT 2005:
The Boys Track team finished 2nd overall at the Regional Meet in Brenham last Friday and Saturday with a total of 61 points.
Tad Cook was 1st in Long Jump and 2nd in Triple Jump.
Blake Cuba was 6th in Long Jump and 3rd in Triple Jump.
The 800 Relay finished 3rd and 1600 Relay of Tyrone Wright, Justin Kreidel, Tad Cook and Ross Towery finished 4th.
The 400 Relay finished 2nd and advanced to state.
At the State Meet in two weeks, May 13th-14th, Tad will Long Jump at 1:30 pm on Friday and Triple Jump at 8:30 pm Friday night.
The 400 Relay of Ross Towery, Tad Cook, Miles Grisham and Wade Gilchrist will be running at 12:15 pm on Saturday afternoon. The alternates for 400 relay are Blake Cuba and Justin Kreidel.

The tennis team did very well finishing several singles and doubles players in the top at the Groesbeck Invitational Tournament. Up next for the tennis team is a tournament in Mason Friday/Saturday, April 1/2. The district tennis tournament will be in Bastrop on April 12&13.

March 4th and 5th the Thorndale Tennis Team competed in the Regional Team Tennis Tournament. They were 2nd place and advanced to the State Team Tennis Tournament in Pflugerville! Congratulations to the tennis team and Coach Betak!

The Bulldogs ended their season as Region 4 Finalists. Congratulations to the Dogs and Coaches on a great season!!



The Bulldogs traveled to New Braunfels High School on Wednesday, May 26, 7:00 PM, for game 1 of a best of 3 series against D'Hanis. The Dogs defeated the Cowboys 7-2.
In game 2, Thorndale picked up where they left off on Wednesday defeating D'Hanis 14-10.

Bulldogs beat Milano 7-3 in the final game of disrict in the 2004 season. Dogs finish 10-0 in district with a 19-3 overall record.

Varsity Bulldogs defeat Thrall 9-1 in 7 innings, bringing the Bulldogs to 9-0 in district play with one game to go. Bulldogs clenched the District Champion spot last night with their win against the Tigers.

The baseball team is currently 8-0 in district with 2 games
remaining in
the regular season.
Regional track takes place in Brenham this Friday/Saturday

The athletic banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19 at the
fireman's hall.
Lift-a-thon is set for May 5- 6:30 PM at the football field.
We are taking next year's 7th, 9th, 11th graders, if they
sign up, to
Georgetown on Saturday, May 15, for sports physicals. Scott and White
is offering
the service for $10.00. The money is given back to us to
use towards
our training budget. Checks to THS Athletics. Leave time is
6:30 AM-

Coach Jack has taken the head football/AD job in Clarendon,
his home
town. Coach Doughty has been named head football coach for
the Dogs.

The baseball team traveled to Burton on Tuesday, February 16, and defeated their hosts 8-1. Thorndale advances to 6-2 on the year.
The Dogs hosted Rogers Wednesday, March 17 JV and V. JV won 7-1. Varsity won 4-3 in 8 innings.

The Lady Dogs played hard but lost to a very good Holland team, 0-5.

In track, at Holland, on Saturday, March 6, 2004,
Jocelyn Stokes finished 1st in discus with a throw of 109', and
Rheannon Davidson placed 6th in shot put at 30'!
April 1st track meet has been dropped.
The Jarrell meet is now the Academy meet.
The Bulldogs dropped their home opener to Burton on Tuesday, March 2 and lost to Pflugerville Hendrickson 3-5 on March 5 in the Moody tournament, but bounced back against Thrall 12-1 and a good Moody team, 13-2.
The Bulldog advanced to the finals of the Bremond tournament with wins over Florence and Teague.
Thorndale defeated Bremond to take the championship on Saturday, March
13,
2004, 6-3. The Bulldogs are now 5-2 on the year.
