Senior, Ian Smith, was able to complete a perfect performance on Saturday at the Bloomington South Regional by winning the 171 pound weight class championship over Michael Biggs of Jennings County by a score of 3-1. Smith will now compete in the Evansville Semi-State next Saturday. He will receive a first round bye before wrestling the winner of a match between Ryan Mann of Castle and Adam Mattingly of Providence. A victory will secure a spot in the State Finals in Indianapolis beginning Feb. 15.
125 pounder Tim Willis will join Smith at the semi-state with a second place finish in the regionals. Willis lost his championship bout to Jared Snyder of Edgewood for the second week in a row. Willis will face John Sims of Evansville Mater Dei in the opening round of the semi-state. A victory will pit him against MIC foe Matt Adams of Center Grove. The winner will advance to the state finals.

Seven Patriots were able to advance out of the Northview Sectional on Saturday, January 26 and earn spots in the Bloomington South Regional to be held on Feb. 2.
At 125, Tim Willis placed second, Josh Loudermilk advances with a 4th place finish at 140, Ethan Page, at 152, was a 3rd place qualifier. In addition, Ian Smith lost a hard-fought overtime match in the sectional championship at 171. Also advancing are Doug Collett, 4th at 189; David Knight, 4th at 215, and Lance Lloyd 3rd at 285. Good luck to all of these young men as they try to advance to the Semi-state by placing in the top 3 at regionals. Congratulations also go out to Jedd Page (119, 5th), Jeff Willis (135, 5th) and Daniel Delisle (160, 6th). All ten of the athletes competing were able to place in their respective weight classes.
As a team, North placed a respectable 6th, by earning 133 points in a highly competitive field. Northview narrowly won the team championship followed closely by Edgewood.
