Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a court fee to play? LPC residents pay $4.00/hour on weekdays before 5 pm, and $5.00/hour weekdays after 5pm and all day on weekends. Non-residents pay $1 more per hour. We are open Monday-Thursday 9am-10pm, Friday-Sunday 9am-6pm. Reservations are highly recommended, though not required. You may call up to two days in advance to make a reservation. When is the best time to get a court? During the week, generally most court times before 7pm are good — 7 to 9pm tend to be our "prime time" and are very busy. On the weekends, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings are best for open play. During our busy seasons (spring, summer, and fall), Thursday and Saturday mornings as well as Sunday afternoons are a little more hectic due to team tennis play. Also, please check our calendar of events as certain Friday nights and some weekends are quite busy with special event activities (mixers and tournaments, respectively). Please call to confirm, as courts will not always be available during these times. What programs do you offer? We have a structured, progressive tennis program for all skill levels supervised by U.S.P.T.A. professionals, softball and flag football leagues of various levels, and a golf driving area and putting green. Do I have to live in The Village to participate in your activities? LPC residents receive a discount on tennis court fees, classes, and leagues (upon showing their Village Country Club membership card), but otherwise anyone may participate in our many activities. The tennis program fees vary (depending on specific activity), football and softball runs $450 per team, while the golf is complimentary and exclusive to the residents. I'm new to The Village and don't know anyone yet. Do you place individuals on sports teams? We do take individual sign-ups ($40 per person) for our football and softball teams; we typically either place them on an existing team(people will call looking for players to help fill their roster) or have a whole team made up of individual participants. We're putting together a team from work; what division should we play? We offer Men's Competitive, Men's Recreational, and a Coed division for both softball and football. Unless your team has played organized ball together in the recent past, we would recommend playing in the Rec league first before moving up. The Competitive teams(particularly in football) have been playing in our leagues for a number of years and are among the best in the city. What type of golf facilities do you have? Though we do not have any holes of golf to play, the driving area and putting green are available to use. We only provide range balls for the driving area, so please bring your own equipment (clubs for the driving area and putter/balls for the putting green) as needed. You have a pro shop there, and since it's a country club everything must be expensive, right? Actually, we are very competitive on our retail prices. For example, our tennis racquets tend to be about $20 below the suggested retail while including a free string job(a $20 value), thus netting a savings of at least $40! |
