Northern Ontario Curling Tour Season # 5

NOCT Logo.jpg
Official Tour Logo
The Northern Ontario Curling Tour (NOCT) will consist of 3 regular events and two brand "new" Superspiels starting this October in Sudbury then North Bay and then back to Sudbury in January while the Sperspiels are in Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. For more information and a list of competing teams click here and you will enter the website for the tour.(www.eteamz.com/noct) Tour organizers Tim Phillips, Steve Chenier and Mark Brown feel that the time is right for a Northern Ontario Curling Tour due to the fact that a number Northern Ontario Spiels are failing, both local fun spiels and WCT events. The local fun spiels are seeing a decline in entries mainly because most club teams are tired of watching competitive teams winning the fun spiels while most competitive Northern Ontario teams have a hard time affording the costs of entering the WCT. The NOCT will give ALL Northern teams the best of both worlds, a highly competitive tour that is affordable while club teams can confidently enter the fun spiels and compete against teams of their calibre. There have been many changes in the curling world lately and for the most part, only a few top competitive teams reap the rewards that are dangled in front of them. Approximately 90% of competitive teams will never reach the success levels of the Martin's, Middaugh's and Stoughton's of the curling world and for Northern Ontario teams this number is even higher. The new NOCT will provide a competitive level playing field for Northern teams of all kinds and at the same time will continue to promote curling throughout Northern Ontario.
