This November brought The Knockout all over the Capital Region.
Beginning with our final fall try out in early November, held at Schenectady High School. Our session brought in some more talented rookies and brought back our returning players making at a great, but chilly, Saturday morning.
The Knockout got a chance to strut our stuff in middle of the month by taking out place in line for the Schenectady Holiday Parade. For the first time in years, the weather cooperated for a great crowd throughout downtown Schenectady.
On Thanksgiving morning, our annual 'Bagels on the Concourse' was held under the NY State Capital. The Knockout combined to wait for and deliver almost 100 Thanksgiving Day meals to aid the efforts of Equinox to serve the Capital District, and beyond, by providing Turkey Day to those who needed a hand.

Wednesday, October 26
On Sunday, The NY Knockout attended a fundraiser breakfast to help the Holy Trinity Football Team recover from a fire that destroyed their Team Shed and all it's contents.
The local football team comprised of players from Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons and Catholic High players has a dedicated volunteer coaching staff that built a shed for The Team to use as a locker room, team room and weight room. The suspected arson is still under investigation, but destroyed everything that The Program and the players had.
The community rallied, including donations from Riddel, Stadium Equipment, SUNY Albany and countless local businesses and private donors, the team was able to play in their play off game Saturday and will compete in a crossed over game Thursday.
A very special thank you to KATIE O'BYRNE'S PUB for hosting Sunday's breakfast fundraiser and Knockout lineman Jessica Hansler for donating all of her 50/50 raffle winnings back to The Pride!
Monday, October 3
The NY Knockout started October by volunteering to help out with the Color Me Rad race at Saratoga National Park.

A very special thank you to everyone who participated.

We don't know where Waldo was during Championship Weekend, but we do know that Knockout linebacker Chantal Green was in North Carolina participating in Alum Star practices and the All Star game.
While the East Side came out on the losing side in the Game, great ties were made and fun was had!
Friday, July 22
The NY Knockout, despite a tough regular season, has landed two athletes on the All Star Team.

Best of luck to our All Stars this weekend!

The American flag does not fly because the wind moves past it. The American flag flies with the last breath of each military service person who has died protecting it. American soldiers do not fight because they hate what is in front of them - They fight because they love what is behind them.
Monday, May 30
A special thank you to our very own offensive and defensive line specialist #56, JESSICA HANSLER, and every single past, present and future service person.

24-7..... Hours in a day-Days in a week.
That's the commitment that The Knockout will have to show to improve on the home opener loss to The Maine Mayhem.
Saturday's loss in the home opener at the brand new Warrior Field at Mohonasen High School showed The Knockout what they need to do to put some wins under their belts.
The rookies got a welcome to game speed and the veterans got a reminder that will translate into a good learning experience and a good step to building a winning season.
The game showed many bright points behind the 28-6 loss. We saw collective teamwork and great attitudes. 3 broken plays lead to 3 touchdowns for Maine and one special teams error left The Mayhem a short 9 yard field for another. The sole Knockout touchdown came following a strong drive of well executed plays, showing promise for upcoming games.
NY heads North of the boarder next weekend to face the Montreal Blitz. The Blitz, an original member team of the IWFL, boasts numerous World Championships and The Knockout hopes to bring a franchise first win back home!
We hope to see you at our next home game, at SCHENECTADY HIGH SCHOOL on Saturday MAY 14 against the New England Nightmare.
Saturday, April 2
The NY Knockout bids a fond adieu to their winter home. Although the snow stayed away for most of the winter, and has decided to grace April, The Knockout heads outside for the remainder of the year with the season opener looming.
The Knockout was lucky to call The Schenectady Armory home for the winter preseason. The Armory was recently reopened under new ownership and following an impressive renovation that leaves the site available for basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and kickball on the newly refinished hardwood and baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse and football on the brand new, state of the art Astro Turf.
Check out their web site for upcoming events from Beer Tires, Wing Ward and Dodgeball Tournaments!
Until next preseason.....

Thanks solely to the hard work and dedication to women's football as a whole that was shown by Cape Fear Thunder GM Jennifer Shank and NY Knockout Owner Melissa Messemer, as well as their team members and staff, the National 8's Championship was played on Saturday in Schenectady at Schenectady High School's Mulvaney Field.
The Cape Fear Thunder, based on their 5-1 season record, was the home team and graciously traveled to New York to make this game a possibility following a last minute change of plan by The WSFL ownership group regarding venue.
Assemblyman James Tedisco and former NFL standout Tim Sherwin joined the teams for the coin toss. The Susan B. Anthony silver dollar was chosen to remind us all that HIStory is also HERstory, and that Saturday's game was another example of women in history.
The 'visiting' Knockout lost the toss, but with The Thunder's election to kick off, The Knockout received the kick at the 35 yard line and following a 7 yard return by Cee Cee Martin, did not look back. NY scored on their first possession on a Tessa Sedlar run, capped by a 2-point conversion reception by Heather Faga from Emily Vigiard. That first touchdown proved all that The Knockout needed to bring home the trophy as the defense blanked Cape Fear on the night.
NY would score 2 more touchdowns in the first half. A Codie Addington run up the left side of the field put The Knockout up 14-0. The PAT failed. With a few minutes left in the half, Sedlar added her second touchdown of the game, the 2-point conversion pass from Emily Vigiard to Melissa Messemer out of the backfield was successful, sending the game to halftime with a score of 22-0 in favor of the 'visiting' Knockout.
Addington would add one more touchdown in the second half while the stellar defense, with one forced fumble and recovery by Els Lanfear and one interception by Lizzy Silver, held North Carolina at bay.
"After losing to then twice already in the regular season, we were ready to lock the gate and come out winners tonight, " said Head Coach Rich Messemer. And they did just that!
The final score of 28-0 brought the CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY to NY to stay.
Keep an eye on our Facebook Group and Page to see "The Adventures of Winner" as the trophy spend some quality time with each of our players and staff members!
Try-outs for the 2016 season will begin in September.
Thursday, July 30
On SATURDAY NIGHT @ 6pm @ SCHENECTADY HIGH SCHOOLS TURF FIELD The NY Knockout (4-2) will play in the National 8's Division Championship against the top seeded, defending champion, Cape Fear Thunder (6-0).
Join Assemblyman Jim Tedisco for this exciting chance to witness history.
We are a third year team based in Schenectady, this is our third trip to the play-offs! We are locally owned and operated and have athletes from 18 thru 47 years old, nuclear engineers to house wives to single working parents to restauranteurs to high school students, from all over the Capital District and beyond. We even have a local high school football player (standout) who is our assistant offensive coordinator! We participate in local fundraising, community events and public support all year long.
We hope that you can take time from your busy schedules to support us!
Sunday, June 7
The NY Knockout improved to 4-1 on the season following a forfeit by The Three Rivers Xtreme on Saturday.
Instead of losing our home opener, the generosity of The Cape Fear Thunder have us an opponent on short notice. The Thunder loaded up their team can and made an unscheduled trip to Schenectady High School to show our friends, family, fans and supporters to see The Knockout in action.
We are thankful for not having to cancel our home opener. We are NOT as grateful for the 12-0 loss that Cape Fear handed us, but glad to get the game in.
Keep an eye on our news ticker for play-off information.
Tuesday, May 26
The NY Knockout would like to extend our most sincere thanks to every member of our nation's armed forces, both current and retired, alive and deceased. Thank you for defending our country and making it possible for all Americans to live freely.
Special thanks to our own members of the military: Sergeant Shaysha Fitzgerald, Staff Sergeant Jessica Hansler. We are honored that you wear our camouflage and that can call you members of our KNOCKOUT family!
Tuesday, May 5
After a hard fought game that went right to the wire, and the Cape Fear Thunder 1 yard line, The NY Knockout dropped their second game to the defending WSFL 2014 8'S champions.
Dispite another score by each Renise Holohan and Melissa Messemer, and great defensive play from rookie Codie Addington-Pease and veteran Chantal Bauer, The Team could not finish closing the gap on The Thunder on Saturday night following a12 hour bus ride. The Thunder took their last possession, at their own 1 yard line, to finish the game by taking a knee for 2 plays before the clock expired.
At 1-1, The Knockout looks forward to hosting The Three Rivers Xplosion with the hope of moving to 2-1 and working toward the play-offs in July!
Saturday, April 25
The NY Knockout won their season opener tonight in Pittsburgh, PA over a revamped Three Rivers Xplosion team in dramatic fashion. In double over time, yes double over time, 20-18.
After a difficult first half getting into the flow of a new game with a large rookie contingent, The Team went into halftime down 12-0. Behind captain leadership, and having overcome their jitters, The Knockout came out ready to turn things around in the second half.
And they certainly did. After exchanging possessions, rookie Maggie Cusprinie forced a fumble deep in Xplosion territory that was recovered by The Knockout giving them a short field in the third quarter. Rookie Tessa Sedlar found the end zone to end the possession with the score moving to 12-6.
A few possessions later, following a long run by rookie Stephanie Snoich, QB Emily Vigiard found Sedlar for aTD pass bringing the score to a deadlocked 12-12.
With stong play from CB Kelly Howarth, LB Chantal Green and S Codie Addington-Pease, the defense held Three Rivers to a scoreless fourth quarter, forcing overtime.
The first overtime had The Xplosion on offense first, but again the defense held their ground. The Xplosion defense was equally stingy, forcing a second overtime period.
Coming out on offense first this time, The Knockout punched one in from the 6 and a Vigiard pass to Renise Holohan in the corner of the end zone put NY up 20-12. With 4 downs to score from the 10 yard line, Three Rivers came with the speed they'd shown all game and their power back to combine for a TD. 20-18 NY. But solid defense again knocked them back and disallowed their point after attempt to finish the game at 20-18.
The Knockout looks toward The Cape Fear Thunder next weekend in Fayetteville, NC for win #2.

With players, coaches, famil and friends, The Knockout loaded up the float that was generously loaned by The Vetetans of Lansingburgh, Inc. and checked over for safety by Dick's Automotive in Waterford and made way the beginning of the parade route and awaited the start of The Schenectady Holiday Parade. The NY Knockout has had a wonderful 2014 season.
The Team took their Tier 3 status and ran with it, playing IWFL teams as well as Independent teams to a 4-2 record!
This record was enough to earn us a Bowl bid to go along with our impeccable sportsmanship, extensive community outreach and service. The Knockout took being a good member of society and IWFL (women's football) pride, education and positive public image to a new level!
Scheduling has seen a change and there will be no Tier 3 game this season, and in it's place will be a Legend's game of tackle football game billing long term teams against eachother to reward long term dedication to the IWFL.
The 2014 Legacy Bowl teams are the Minnesota Vixen (IWFL) and the Carolina Queens (IWFL). The NY Knockout is sad to have not been given an opponent from the Western Conference to make the Tier 3 Game possible, but we are very excited to have the oppertunity to volunteer to help out for Championship Week!
Looking forward to Championship Week and to recruiting for the 2015 season!
Tuesday, June 24
The 2014 IWFL All-Star team had been named and The NY Knockout, playing an abbreviated, 6 game, Teir 3 schedule, had 3 players voted onto the Team!
Congratulations to rookie 2-way lineman Justina Norero, LB/DE/RB Shay Fitzgerald and LB/DE/FB Melissa Messemer on getting the nod to participate in the All-Star game during the WFF/IWFL Championship Week in Rock Hill, Sc.
Sunday, June 15
The NY Knockout finally chalked up another win for this 2014 season, and it is about time!
The last 2 games, encompassing the past month, has seen only losses for The NY Knockout, dropping decisions to the Keystone Assault and the Montreal Blitz, and giving up over 70 points.
The NY Knockout came home on Saturday night to host the Erie Illusion with the hopes to get back into their swing of things and move toward a hopeful invite to the Tier 3 Bowl in South Carolina in July.
The Knockout spread out their 48 points between passing and running, turnovers and fumble recoveries. The Knockout saw 6 players cross the goal line and kept things spread around so that Erie was unable to adjust to the offense.
The NY Knockout Women's Tackle Football Team will be travelling to The Erie Illusion at Veterans Memorial Park in Erie, PA with the hope of repeating their dominance, bringing home another win to end the regular season at 4-2 to show The IWFL that The Knockout are a great choice for their Tier 3 Bowl game!
Wednesday, June 11
Wednesday, June 4
The NY Knockout continues to work hard in the community, this time by taking some time to spend with The Schenectady Youth Programs GIRL'S EMPOWERMENT GROUP.
Program director Erica Brockmyer brought her youth group of girls ages 13 through 17 to meet players from The NY Knockout at Collins Park in Scotia. The girls were full of questions about the opportunities, biases, time frames, learning curves and the business model about women in this great game of football. Then all took advantage of the beautiful weather and played some catch, discussing proper throwing and catching mechanics, and even ran some pass routes!
We are looking forward to meeting with them again, helping to get them into contact with youth football organizations that they can enroll in to play football now, before they are old enough to play for The Knockout and to see them in the stands at our final home game...there had even been some talk about posters and glitter glue!!
Saturday, May 31
It can be measured in many ways.
One way is to knowingly accept your role to play iron man football against a Championship level team and drive to Montreal to do it!
Pride and gratitude are emotions that cannot be understated for the 13 players that were able to make the treck to play the Montreal Blitz. The scoreboard read 55-0, but even the opposition agreed that the game was MUCH closer than that!
The NY Knockout takes on the Erie Illusion on Saturday, June 14 @ 5pm at Schenectdy High School for the final home game of the 2014 season.
Sunday, June 1

The Assault outscored The Knockout 40-0 to remain unbeaten while NY drops to 2-1.
Keystone scored a rushing touchdown on broken play on the 3rd snap of the game and did not look back.
"We had some key injuries and some players playing out of position to make up for absences and losses on Saturday but hopefully everyone will heal up in our time off," said Coach Rich Messemer.
Coach Jerry Riggi added, "Take nothing away from this Keystone team. They showed up, worked hard, did their jobs, and earned a solid vistory."
The Knockout tavel to Montreal for their next game, against The Blitz, on May 31.
Final NY Knockout home football game of the 2014 season will be June 14. Kick-off at 5pm!
Sunday, May 4
In sputtering, intermittant rain The NY Knockout overcame many mistakes to improve to 2-0 on the 2014 season.
As predicted by the voice of The Knockout, Nate Lamp, the rain came during pre-game warm ups and continued on and off throughout the game. Never threatening a downpour, the rain left the turf wet and the ball slick for the quaterbacks, receivers and backs.
Dispite interseptions, fumbles and miscues, the great offensive line play helped The Knockout rush for over 180 yards and also gave up no sacks on the day.
A special thanks to Ashley Woodry for honoring us by doing a super job in the center circle for the coin toss.
Please join us next Saturday in a game that places 2 undefeated teams squaring off. The 2013 Northeast Division Champion NY Knockout will host the 2013 Mideast Division Champion Keystone Assault. 5pm kick-off at Schenectady High School.
