The Harford Sox is a premier youth baseball organization based in Harford County, Maryland. Founded in 1987, The Harford Sox is one of the oldest and most successful metro organizations in the state. We have 7 teams, age 11 through age 18, competing in the Baltimore Metro Baseball League. The Sox teams are perennial league favorites and compete in national championship tournaments every year. The Harford Sox strive to provide quality instruction in fundamental baseball skills and game situations. We are a well-established and close-knit family who look with pride at our boys' successes both on and off the field. Each year at our annual banquet, 2 Sox alumni are recongized with the Chris Leonard Scholarship.
The Purpose of the Metro League...
The Baltimore Metro League
The purpose of the metro league is to provide talented youth in the Baltimore metropolitan area the opportunity to play baseball at a high level of competition. For those boys age 11 through 13, metro baseball is essential in preparing them for high school ball. Metro league games are played on a larger diamond than other leagues. Therfore, during the summer before 9th grade, 13 year old metro players play on the same 90' diamond as do high school players.
Players age 14 through 18 play metro ball in order to be seen by college recruiters. It is rare to see college coaches at high school baseball games because the college season is being played at the same time as the high school season. The largest portion of high school player evaluation by college coaches is done in the summer. It is more important for a player to be on a highly competitive summer team than it is for him to be on a powerhouse high school team. College coaches agree that the level of high school play is not as important as the level of summer team play when evaluating high school players. The Baltimore Metro League and the Harford Sox offer the highest level of play available in the state.

Player Code of Conduct
Two objectives of every player should be to give 100% effort at all times and to maintain good sportsmanship. Following these guidlines will insure that these goals are met.
* All players hustle all of the time.
* There are no superstars - everyone contributes to a team's success in some way. Players will respect and encourage their teammates.
* Any player using foul or abusive language or gestures to any other player, coach or umpire will be ejected from a game.
* Players are to treat all other players, coaches, umpires and fans with respect.
* Players will not taunt, yell at or in any way try to distract players on the opposing team.
* Players will shake hands with the opposing team after the game.
Remember - in order to GET respect we must first GIVE respect.
Parent Code of Conduct
One of the many challenging aspects of coaching is to play the part of role model to our players. In the heat of the game, it's easy to get emotional. Nevertheless, we have an obligation to our players to reinforce teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Sometimes behavior of individuals off the field raises eyebrows. Like coaches, parents also must be the role models our children need to set a positive example.
These guidelines will help provide an enjoyable experience for our players and other spectators.
* Set an example for sportsmanship for our children to follow.
* Retain perspective, it's just a game.
* Do not criticize the umpires.
* Do not criticize an opposing team, it's players, coaches or fans by word of mouth or gestures.
* Do not be a "Grand Stand Manager"
* Remember that Coaches and Managers are unpaid volunteers.
* Do not propagate slanderous or hurtful gossip.
