Then in the second inning Katie Bailey came into the game at pitcher and she also threw out 3 batters at first, giving up only 3 runs. In the 3rd inning some of the newer players got their chance to play infield and did a great job, but did give up 7 runs. The Fury scored 7 runs in each of their innings highlighted by home runs by Abby Hicks and Katie Bailey for a final of 21-10. The Fury's next opponent is the Red Sox on April 16.

Sox hand Fury their first loss.
April 16th
The offense of the Red Sox was just to much for the Fury to handle as most of the Sox players hit the ball into the outfield on the fly. A few position swaps kept it close as some of the quicker Fury players were moved into the outfield to run down balls and chase down the Red Sox runners. In the end the Sox held on to a win it by the final of 16 to 12.

Yankees cant handle the Fury!
April 19th
The Fountain City Fury scored 7 runs in each of their 3 at bats while holding the Yankees to 5 runs in the first inning and 6 runs in the 3rd inning for a 21 - 18 victory. The game featured another Fury first. Pitcher Katie Bailey fielded a ground ball and tossed it to Lauren White at first base for the out. Lauren then threw the ball back to Katie who then ran down a runner that was trying to score from second for a double play. Katie also lead the offense with another home run. Fury Explode against the Explosion
April 26th
This game was never close as the Fury scored seven runs in each inning and held the Explosion to a total of 10 runs. Defense wins it for the Fury!
May 3rd
The Fury Defense really stepped up tonight to stop one of the better boys teams, holding them to only 1 run in each of the first 2 innings. The Rockies first 5 hitters all hit the ball hard but could just not get anything by the Fury infield. It started in the first inning with a double play as Katie Bailey caught a line drive and then doubled up the runner on first base. That was followed by a hard grounder to short which Abby Hicks fielded and threw to Lauren White at first for the force out in the second inning. The Fury scored 8 runs in the first 2 innings holding the Rockies to only 2. In the third inning the Fury put the game out of reach by holding the Rockies to 5 runs while scoring 7. The final score in 4 innings was Fury 15, Rockies 13 and the Fury did not even bat in the bottom half of the fourth.

Fury finish 2nd in Fountain City Spring Tournament.
May 7th
The Fury came up 1 game short of a Tournament Championship finishing 2nd in the 3rd Annual Fountain City Spring Tournament. The tourney started out great on Friday night with a close game against the White Sox. Holding the Sox to five runs in each of the first two innings is all it took as they could not stop the Fury offense. The final score was 19-17.

Saturday started off like Friday ended with another offensive surge by the Fury as they scored 21 runs in each of their first two games. The offensive was led by Katie Bailey's 2 home runs and a grand slam by Natalie Sullenberger. The Defense was also good as the Yankees and the Cubs could only muster one seven run inning each. Lauren White made several good catches at first base and Taylor Snyder and Abby Hicks each made good defensive stops. The Fury topped the Yankees by a score of 21-13 and finished off the Cubs, 21-10.

In the championship game it was a different story. The Fury ran into an extremely hot Red Sox team that has not lost a game all year. They just could not get over the hump defensively as they were able to get 2 outs in each inning but could not get that elusive third out. On offense they started out good scoring 4 in the first and 7 in the second but were shut out in the third inning. There were some high points as Payton Kneier made a great catch on a line drive hit down the third base line. Later they had a great double play when Katie Bailey fielded a ball and threw out the running going to first. Then Lauren White threw the ball back to Katie and she was able to run down a runner trying to score from second. The final score was Red Sox 21, Fury 11.

All in all it was a great tournament and the girls played fantastic tee ball. Playing three games in 5 hours on Saturday was tough, but they did great. Congratulations for finishing 2nd.

Girls Rule - Another boys team goes down.
May 13th
The Yankees were the most recent victims of the Fury Friday night as the girls played another great game. Hard hits by Lora Cress, Lauren White and Katie Bailey allowed the Fury to put up seven runs in each inning. The defense was great as usual as the Yankees were held to 12 runs. There were a few minor injuries in the game. Taylor Snyder was hit in the mouth in the first inning while playing 2nd base and then got hit in the ankle in the 2nd inning while playing outfield. Katie Bailey also took a hard throw in the forehead but everyone was fine and stayed in the game. All in all it was another successful night as the Fury took out the Yankees 21-12.

White Sox dominated by Fury
May 17th
It was not even close on Tuesday night as the Fury had a 21-2 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd inning. Defense ruled in the first 2 innings. Seven runs in each inning again for the Fury made the final score 21-9.

Fury finnish 3rd in tournament at Fountain City Park
May 21st
The weekend started off at 9AM Saturday morning and the Fury started off slow. The girls did not seem ready to play and the Cardinals led the Fury in each of the first 3 innings. The Cardinals scored 3 in the first inning and held the Fury to only 1 run. In the 2nd inning the Fury only managed 2 runs but held the Cards to 1. The Fury finally tied it up at 6-6 in the 3rd inning and then took the lead for good in the seventh. Defense won this game as nothing went right for the Fury on offense.

In the 2nd game the Fury came out with a different attitude and jumped all over the White sox allowing them to only score 3 runs in the first 2 innings. On offense Katie Bailey hit a pitched ball deep into the outfield with the bases loaded for her first ever grand slam. The final score was 21-10.

In the 3rd and final game on Saturday the Inskip Angles came calling in the winners bracket final and this time the Fury could not pull it out. The first inning was close with the Angles scoring 7 and the Fury putting up 5, but after that the Fury could only manage 6 more runs while the Angles maxed out with 14. The final score in this one was 21-11.

Moving to Sunday, the Fury faced off with the only team that had beaten them prior to this tournament in the Red Sox. The Red Sox defense was great while their hitting was unstoppable. The Fury could not get anything going and with that the Tournament was over for the Fury. A third place finnish this weekend gives the team some momentum going into their first away tournament of the season.

Fury get back on track with win against Chaos.
May 23rd
It took an inning to get back in the grove, but things started clicking in the 2nd inning Monday night. The first inning was rough as the Chaos scored 7 runs and held the Fury to only 6. But once the 2nd inning started it was old hat for the Fury, holding the Chaos to only 4 runs in the 2nd and 3rd while putting up 14. Taylor Snyder highlighted the offense with her first home run of the season. The final score was 20-11.

Fury eeks one out against the Cards
May 28th
It was another close game against the Cardinals on Saturday even though the Cards only had 6 players. It only took 1 stop to win the game as the Cards were outmatched in the field with only 1 outfielder. The Fury scored 7 in each inning and held the Cards to only 6 in the 2nd inning and that was all it took. The final score was Fury 14, Cards 13.

The Explosion improves but not enough to handle the Fury
May 31st,
In the first game against the Explosion, the Fury beat them with ease but that was not the case this time. Both teams scored 7 in the first inning and the Fury looked flat. In the 2nd inning they woke up and played a little defense. Kaitie Bailey fielded 3 hits and made good throws to Lauren White to hold the Explosion to only 4 runs. In the third it was deja vu as the Bailey/White connection worked again for 3 more outs. The Explosion could only muster 5 runs that inning. Scoring 7 runs in the 2nd inning the Fury only needed 3 runs to win and they got them as Lauren White scored the winning run in the bottom of the third. The Final score was 17-16.

City Tournament begins
June 4th
The city tournament started on Saturday and the Fury played their first game at 11:00am. Their opponent was the Alice Bell Rangers, the #1 team from Alice Bell. Katie Bailey and Lauren White had the defensive connection going in the first 2 innings with 5 put outs and the Fury D held the Rangers to only 4 runs in those first 2 innings. The offense was great as well as the Fury put up 7 runs in each inning. The game was not as close as the score indicated with the Fury topping the Rangers by a score of 16-11.

In game 2 on Saturday the Fury matched up with the #2 Alice Bell team, the Reds. This game was never in question as the Reds were just out matched from the beginning. The defense was great again and the Fury held the Reds to only 2 runs in each of the first 2 innings. On offense the Reds only made 3 outs in the field the entire game and the Fury cruised to a 19-11 victory.

The next game will be much tougher when the Fury match up with the Fountain City Red Sox, their arch rival and the #1 Fountain City team in the winners bracket semi final on Monday. One of only 2 teams to beat the Fury this year, the Red Sox are all that stand in the way of a Winners bracket final game for the Fury.

Season ends with a 4th place finnish at the City Tournament.
June 8th
The fury played great in the City Tournament, but in the end they ran into the only 2 teams that beat them this year. They won 3 games in the tournament and gave the Fountain City Red Sox and the Inskip Angles their toughest games of the tournament. Playing against mostly all boys teams the Fury did not show any fear and played their hearts out. I am very proud of each and every girl on the team this year and the way they played, hustled, listened, and learned. We have a phenomenal core group that I hope will stay together for years to come.

Congratulation Fury on a great year!!!
