The Edge FHC: Welcome

The Edge Field Hockey Club (FHC) is located in central New Jersey. The Edge FHC is a premier field hockey institution for development and high performance training in New Jersey. At the Edge, the focus is on developing the whole person and thereby “new champions”. In our short tenure (2 years) we have already won national championships at the Under 14 level in indoor; under 19 and 16 group championships in outdoor hockey. We are one of the top 8 clubs in the nation at this level. At the recently concluded National Indoor Championships, our teams played in the highest pools. We won two under 19 qualifiers and finished third in the other. Also, we won 2 under 16 qualifiers.
Our club motto is "By Striving We Shall Conquer". Our name "The Edge" came out of Native American lore about how birds learned to fly. The amalgamation of “myth” and “philosophy” promotes the motivation for success in an ever changing world. We facilitate the optimization of talent through a rigorous year round program that inculcates the best in human development science, world hockey science and art. To date, our players have been placed at some of the finest institutions in the nation. College coaches are thrilled with our players as they are well coached and equipped for competition in life and on the field. Every freshman that we worked with won a starting position at their respective institutions.
Our Directors are Kelvin and Kenwin Nancoo. Kelvin is an FIH trained coach who has attended all the advanced courses in field hockey. He has coached the Trinidad and Tobago Women's Olympic Team for six years. He is a journalist and teacher by training.
Kenwin is a former Olympic field hockey coach for Trinidad and Tobago. He played several positions, but his primary position was as a goalkeeper. In recent years Kenwin ushered teams to successive national indoor championship titles. He is a performance specialist, psychotherapist and athletic trainer.
