Welcome to The Bar of Appleton Fastpitch Softball Website
2006 NAFA

The Bar of Appleton is proud to announce that they will be making a serious push for the ISC II ToC which will be held in Appleton, WI.

The Bar will undergo a small transformation as Matt Paulsen and Terry Hanke will assume more leadership duties on game day while Manager Tony Schaaf will be assuming a more behind the scenes responsibility.

The team is hoping to play a minimum of a tournament a month with the main focus being on the Kimberly Paper Valley League, NAFA Travel League, NAFA State, ISC Travel League, and the Barneveld Luau.
The Bar of Appleton announces schedule and roster for the 2007 Season. Check site news for our current roster

The Bar played 76 games during 2006. Our season was highlighted by some outstanding team performances this year. Our top performance would definitely be the 3rd place finish that took place at the Red Rock Invitational in St. George Utah. That would be followed up with the 7th place finish at the NAFA AA World Series held in Appleton, WI. We continued with our third Paper Valley League championship in four years. We also placed 3rd at the Bristol Progress Days.

Along with these highlights we are proud of the fact that we played close to a third of our season (24 games) at the ISC Level facing teams like The Farm, Circle Tap, Townline, and even securing wins over outstanding programs like Colorado Rage, Team Rainey, and A-1 Tank.

Outstanding individual seasons were also turned in Shaun Jamieson, who became the workhorse of our staff. Solid offensive seasons were also turned in by Conrad Bain, Matt Paulsen, Kyle Van Abel, and Gerard Long. Another pleasant surprise was the young talent that we feel will develop in fastpitch. Henry Schmidt became the top young talent of our team after Kyle Van Abel. Jason Dreger and Kevin Schmidt became two you talents to watch in the future.

We cant forget about the core of our team which has been together for the past five or six seasons. Tony Schaaf, who has been responsible for keeping the program going the last 5 seasons while playing infield, Karl Shimulunas, who has been a steady first basemen since he first joined the team, Kirk Shillcox and Terry Hanke have also been our play everywhere guys and hard to keep out of the line up with all that they bring to the squad. We also cant forget our one man who held it all together on the field. Kevin Schumacher has brought that steadying influence back to the team.

Check out some of the articles from this years NAFA World Series in the Appleton Post Crescent.

As we look back on last year we also start our plans for next year. With players cutting back on playing time we will be adding some new blood to the squad and making a run again for either the ISC II Tournament of Champions or the NAFA World Series.

For our fans thanks for another great season and we look forward to seeing you next summer.
