It's that time of year again! As the Fighting Irish are in full swing for the 2009 football season, and many new changes happening all the time. Here is a brief overview of what is going on and events that still have to take place: RED = NEXT COMING EVENT!

Posted on 6/29 The Fighting Irish (3-0, 1-0) return home again on July 11th to take on the Albany Metro Mallers (1-0, 1-0) at Troy High School. Kickoff is set for 5:30PM. Troy's game theme is a block party. So come out and support the Irish and watch some affordable action packed football!

Posted on 6/22 The Fighting Irish (2-0, 1-0) hold strong to shut out the Rome Rampage (0-1, 0-1) in a 12-0 win in Rome. The story of the game was the Defense! Led by Joshiah Quinn that had 7 tackles 2 assists and 1 sack. Jason Dolan adding 3 sacks on the night. Jamie Merritt and Dison Reynolds each registered 1 interception to help the Irish pitch the shutout. Gee Rowe added his 2nd receiving TD on the season catching 6-109-1TD. While Tom Mazzariello once again led the ground game carrying the ball 19-132-1TD. Quarterback J.P. Howard finished the game 8-137-1TD.

Posted on 6/14 Pre-season Game Fighting Irish (1-0, 0-0) 27-2 Win @ Amsterdam Zephyrs (0-1, 0-0 EFL). Tom Mazzariello and J.P. Howard had 1 rushing TD each. As Gee Rowe and Tom Duclos each had long receiving TD's. The Fighting Irish Defense held strong all night long.

Posted on 3/13 All practices will be held at Prospect Park in Troy, NY. This season the Fighting Irish will be practicing every Tuesday and Thursday @ 6:30PM, beginning on April 28th and 30th (respectively).

The Northeastern Football Alliance (NFA) league structure is set for 2009! The Northeast Football Alliance (NFA) announces the 2009 schedule for this coming season. The NFA will be broken down into three divisions, an East, Central, and West. The NFA ten game schedules will begin June 20th and the League Championship will be September 26th. The Eastern Division including Troy will be Albany, Rome, and Glove-Cities. The Fighitng Irish have the third hardest schedule this season in the NFA with 3 games between 2008 National Champions ,and seven of their ten games vs. 2008 NFA playoff teams. The 2009 Troy Fighting Irish final schedule is as follows:

Player Don Hojnicki (18) of the Fighting Irish lost both parents on April 11, 2009. Father Don Hojnicki Sr. (58) passed at St. Mary's Hospital after fighting pancreatic cancer for 15 months. Mother Phyllis Harrington (53) passed suddenly from complications of heart disease in their Latham home.
