Congratulations #10 Callie for being honored by The Texas Music Educators Association as a 2004-2005 All-Region Musician. Callie, an 8th grader at Dulles Middle School, was selected as an Alto to the Region 17 JH/MS Treble Choir.

Singing runs in the family ... big sister Cassie, four-year varsity Catcher/1B for the Dulles High School Lady Vikings, went to Broadway in March with the fabulously talented DHS Varsity Singers, who were invited to New York to perform in a special competition.

Kudos To Coach Cheri!

Houston Baptist University (HBU) had four players selected to the NAIA All-American team.

* Laura Hess - NAIA Pitcher of the Year
* Rachel Werner - 2nd Team NAIA All-American
* Cheri Wood - 2nd Team NAIA All-American
* Katelyn Griffin - Honorable Mention NAIA All-American

HBU ended up 48-9 for the year, the best in school history. They finished 1-2 at the NAIA National Championships, finishing the year ranked #3 in the nation.

A quote from the HBU softball website:

"Wood was named to the All-America team in her first season in an HBU uniform as a designated player. She batted .335 overall on the season with eight homers and 40 RBI, and tied for the team lead in walks with 25. A freshman from Sugar Land, she led the team with 48 runs and was second with 58 hits. She also went 9-0 on the mound with a 0.98 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 64.1 innings pitched."

In addition, Coach Cheri has been selected to the Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference Team and she has been named Red River Athetic Conference Newcomer of the Year!

Ally Scores Big On SAT!
High fives to Trouble Maker #25 Ally for scoring big on her SAT and receiving "State Recognition" in the 24th Annual 7th Grade Talent Search sponsored by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP). The ceremony will take place at Texas A&M University in May.

TIP is dedicated to being a national leader in identifying academically talented students and providing innovative programs to support the development of their optimal educational potential.


Speaking of hockey ... Ally has been selected to attend the Rocky Mountain Hockey Festival . Joining Ally in Utah will be five other lady hockey players from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Ally, a First Colony Middle Schooler, is a member of the all girl hockey team/league HERricanes 12U and 14U, as well as a member of the Prep Team for Clements High School.

The NJHS is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship.

The District Track Meet was held in Needville this past Saturday. #00 Courtney finished 2nd in District in Pole Vault, setting three personal bests at the meet. #16 Shelby finished 3rd in District in the 4 x 200 Meter Relay. #2 Cierra finished 1st in District in Pole Vault, 1st in District in the 1-1/2 Mile, 2nd in District in the 1 Mile Relay, 3rd in District in the 400 Dash, and 4th in District in the Triple Jump. The Austin Co. Elite Club Volleyball teams competed in the Gold Bracket of the fourth and final tournament of the Houston Power League Series this past weekend. Competing in League City on Saturday, #3 Alexa's 13U Ace of Clubs team finished the series tied for 7th Place out of 42 teams. #5 Audrey's 12U Ace of Hearts team, competing on Sunday at Houston Juniors, finished with 5th Place out of 28 teams

Alexa and her "13U ACE of Clubs" team has now advanced into the the Gold Bracket for the 4th and final weekend of the series. Her team is now in the Top 12 out of 42 total teams!

High five’s to Trouble Maker #7 Alec for making the Fort Bend Baptist Academy’s Middle School Softball Team! Was there any doubt? Alec, starting pitcher, and her FBBA Lady Eagles begin a 16 game schedule playing area schools such as St. Thomas Episcopal, Emery Weiner, John Cooper, Westbury, Holy Spirit, Trafton, Kipp Academy, and 3D Academy. The green and gold will play all home games at Sugar Land’s Imperial Park. Way to go Alec ... congrats and good luck from your Trouble Maker teammates!

Update: Alec pitched her first shut out of the season vs. Emery Weiner! The Lady Eagles run-ruled them 15-0. FBBA's record is 1-0. Congratulations #7!

Alexa Named National Honor Student
The United States Achievement Academy proudly announces that Alexa has been selected as a USAA National Honor Student Award winner. This exclusive award pays tribute to Alexa's commitment to academic excellence.

Because of the abilities and talents that Alexa has demonstrated, she has qualified to receive USAA scholarships to be awarded for her effort and academic performance at the appropriate time in her secondary school career. This means that USAA affiliation gives Alexa preferred scholarship status or guaranteed scholarships depending on academic accomplishments with schools such as Colorado State University-Pueblo that will be valid until graduation.

Where is Bert Parks when you need him! Trouble Maker #6 Chastity was recently crowned "Miss Boy Scouts Sweetheart 2004" at the Boy Scouts Annual Blue and Gold Banquet. Several young ladies involved in the community with direct or indirect ties to the Boy Scouts are nominated for the honor. Once the nominations are submitted, a secret ballot is taken, and the "Sweetheart" is announced at the dinner. According to #6's mom, Kim, the expression on Chastity's face was priceless when she realized who they were describing as they revealed this year's "Sweetheart." She was so surprised ... but we’re not. We already know Chastity is a beauty and a sweetheart inside and out, not to mention her athletic ability!

Lady Vikings Named Co-District Champs!

Dulles Middle School shares the honor and a 6-2 in-district record with McAuliffe Middle School. Callie, who played point guard, and the Lady Vikings ended the season Monday night with an impressive 56-15 victory over Sugar Land Middle School.

Congratulations to Ally for making not one ... not two ... but three hockey teams! Yes, you read it correctly ... hockey :) Trouble Maker #25 is currently a member of the all girl team/league HERricanes 12U and 14U, as well as the prep team for Clements High School. The prep team is made up of grade 7-10 athletes. Although there are a few other girls playing at the high school level, Ally is the only girl on the Clements team! She plays center and defense, rotating where the team(s) need her. Way to go Ally ... we're so proud of you :)

Cierra's Got Wheels!
Congratulations to Cierra for coming in 1st Place at the Bay City Coca-Cola Cross Country meet on Saturday, October 11. Representing Needville Junior High in her first-ever competition, Cierra took the lead early and held it the entire duration of the run, soundly beating the field of fifty 7th & 8th graders to the finish line! She will be running again October 18 in College Station at Texas A&M ... and we're thrilled Cierra is running the bases for Texas Trouble!

Alec has been invited to participate in the People to People Student Ambassador Program. In 2004, she has the opportunity to jet off to Europe with other outstanding junior high school students and study in Spain, France, and Italy. She’ll get to experience 23 adventurous days of rewarding activities, as well as meet a variety of people of different cultures and customs -- all while earning high school credits! President Dwight D. Eisenhower founded People to People, an educational exploration program. To become eligible for this huge honor, Alec had to be recommended by a teacher, former Student Ambassador, or National Listing Organization. Hey Alec ... can you say adios, au revoir, and arrivederci? Congratulations #7 :)
