2011 Season in Review

2011 proved to be another great season for the Pride.  The Pride elected to play up and played a competitive 14U Spring season with a 2nd place finish in Southlake and a 3rd in North Richland Hills and Garland before traveling to Northern Colorado to play the Sparkler.  At the Sparkler, the Pride competed in the Gold Bracket placing 7th overall.

After returning from Colorado, the Pride entered the fall season competing in their first 16U tournament going 2-1-1 in Grand Prairie, wearing metal cleats for the first time.  The next two weeks the Pride returned to 14U and placed 4th in Garland and 1st in Southlake, going undefeated in bracket play.  Then it was back to 16U and a 3rd place finish in Garland.  Playing at a high caliber, only the rain could stop the Pride in Grand Prairie as the Pride was 4 -0 before the rains cancelled the tournament.

In the final tournament of the season, a 16U tournament in Garland, the Pride continued their spectacular play with a 1st Place finish, going undefeated in bracket play.  Throughout the tournament the Pride displayed incredible offense, defense and base running.  A highlight of the tournament was a walk off home run by Brianna, which represented the first homer over the fence by the team. The Championship Game was much like most of the season in review.  Down a couple of key players, the Pride produced a 4 run, two out, last inning rally, to defeat the Mansfield Xplosion 9 - 8, with Ali getting the walk-off hit to the gap.  For the year, the Pride was 54-30-6, but were 26-7-2 in the fall playing primarily 16U tournaments.  Great job ladies and what a way to end the season!
