Oilers 25
Storm 22

The Texas Oilers defeated the Ft. Bend Storm by a final score of 25-22 in OT in what will be widely regarded as the greatest Super Bowl in GCFA history.  The Storm jumped out on the Oilers early when Storm RB Jarvis Smith scampered 62 yards for a score on the second play from scrimmage to give the Storm a 6-0 lead (the extra point was missed).  On the Oilers first offensive play from scrimmage, QB Steve "Superman" Sahr was sacked and fumbled and the fumble was recovered by the Storm.  However, the Oilers defense held and forced the Storm to settle for a field goal, giving them an early 9-0 lead.  On the Oilers second play of the ensuing possession Superman found WR Mike Washington for a 76 yard score.  The Storm took a 9-6 lead into the locker room.  But the Oilers, in typical Oiler fashion, made the necessary halftime adjustments and came out in the second half with their guns blazing.  Fast forward to the last two minutes of regulation.  With the Oilers leading 19-16, the Storm punched it in with 1:52 left in the game and took a 22-19 lead (the extra point was blocked).  So the Oilers trail by a field goal, have less than two minutes to go 70 yards, and have no timeouts.  But in the clutch, who do you want to have the ball in his hands?  "Dun dun....dun dun dun dun dun....dun dun dun dun dun....dun dun dun duuuuuun."  That's right....Superman!  And he earned his nickname by driving his team down the field with his legs and his arm.  After a personal foul by the Storm, the ball was placed on the 4 yard line.  With ice water running through his veins, Superman nailed field goal to send the game into overtime.  After the teams traded a few possessions, the Oilers were finally able to put together and sustain a drive that gave them a scoring chance.  After getting the ball down to the Storm 2 yard line, Superman once again lined up for a short field goal.  With that ice water even colder running through his veins, Superman nailed the game winning field goal giving the first year Oilers the Super Bowl championship.  Steve "Superman" Sahr was named MVP after a 395 yard, 2 TD, 2 field goal performance.

The Texas Oilers would like to thank all of our fans and supporters who stuck by us all season through all the hills and valleys.  You are greatly appreciated and we wholeheartedly share this championship with YOU!
