18U AFA NATIONALS
Is there anything hotter than Beaumont, Texas in July? The Heat ladies made it to their first 18U Nationals the week of July 24th to compete with some of the best teams in that age group. The Heat played well and got some well deserved exposure. It was a great trip and a nice tournament for the ladies to build on. Thanks to Magen Butler for helping us out! The Heat has taken a few weeks off but will be hitting it hard soon and gearing up for the Fall season. Congratulations on a great summer season, enjoy your time off, and be ready to go "all out" when Fall ball arrives!
18U TAAF STATE TOURNAMENT

Amidst over 40 of the most competitive teams in Texas, the Heat started the weekend playing one of the best teams in the tournament, the Fort Worth Batbusters 18U. In a long, hard fought game, the Heat lost the first game by a score of 1-0. The Heat started what turned out to be a very long day on Saturday. After again, losing the first game of the day, the Heat finally came alive offensively and won the next six games before finally losing out Sunday early afternoon. After the dust settled, the Heat ladies ended up being in the top twelve teams of the tournament. Next weekend, the Heat will be in McKinney to play a warm-up tourney for the AFA Nationals the week of July 25th.

TEXAS SUPER NIT
Although four members of the Heat gang are still going strong in the Regional Finals of high school play-offs, the Heat got together to play a little softball the weekend of May 21st. The Heat appeared to be ready after going undefeated and allowing no runs scored against them. This season has been long awaited by us all and nothing will be sweeter than to be back on the same side of the field rather than having to play against each other in high school. Thanks go out to Haley, Veronica, and Jordan for picking up and making our roster complete. You guys did a great job!
Again congratulations go out to all the Heat girls that made it to the play-off round in high school ball and good luck to Burleson, Garland, and Rockwall who are still fighting for the title. Our next tournament will be May 28th in Allen. See ya then!
18U ASA IRVING TEXAS OPEN
On July 2nd, the Heat went to Irving to play in an 18U tourney. After tying the first pool game and winning the second by a score of 8-1, the Heat won their first bracket game only to come back at the end of the day and suffer a loss to what would ultimately be the 2nd place team of the tournament. The next morning the Heat came out and fought a hard battle but was handed their second loss by a score of 1-0. The ladies looked a little lethargic this weekend and knowingly the summer heat played a role in that, but all the teams had to play in the same conditions and this weekend the Heat ladies just came up short. Our next tournament will be the weekend of July 15th for the TAAF tournament in Fort Worth.
MAGNOLIA 18U AFA QUALIFIER
The Heat played in Magnolia the weekend of July 25th against some very tough 18U teams. Coach Brad said the team played some of the best ball he's seen all summer. We looked forward to next week when the Heat ladies play in Irving.
USSSA 18U STATE TOURNAMENT
The weekend of June 18th, the Heat was in Rowlett to play in the 18U USSSA State Tournament. The Heat started in slow motion and our bats were cold as we played Last Chance in our first bracket game. The game ended in a 2-1 score hurling the Heat into the loser's bracket. We all know what kind of fun that is. The Heat played two more games on Saturday winning both and preparing us for a very long, hot, day on Sunday that began bright and early at 8:00. The Heat played four games back to back accruing 28 runs and only allowing 1. The heat of the day and the grueling schedule finally caught up to the Heat and while playing Last Chance again, the Heat ran out of gas and ended up taking 3rd place. Congratulations ladies on a tournament well played. Next weekend we will be in Magnolia for an 18U National Qualifier.

THE ELITE COLLEGE SHOWCASE
The final weekend of fall ball was played amongst a large group of college coaches at the Elite College Showcase. The Texas Heat ladies finished in fine fashion as they went 6-2 for the weekend. An especially exciting game was played Sunday afternoon against the very talented and well coached California Lites. This was a hard fought game where the Heat was down in the final inning of play 3-0. The ladies gave it their all when they came back to win the game with 4 runs in their final at bat. Many college coaches were out to watch as the Heat played some of their best ball of this season. Congratulations to the Heat on a job very well done. The Heat will take a small break and work hard in the off season to prepare for the high school round. After high school play-offs, the ladies will begin putting in time getting ready for Seattle, Washington for the 16U ASA "A" Nationals.
