Player Preparation
Equipment Info
TCR Football provides shoulder pads, helmets, two game jerseys, game pants, standard mouth piece and socks. Parents are required to write 1 deposit checks. $ 50.00 per player for equipment deposit. Equipment deposits will be returned when equipment is returned at the end of the season.
Helmets - Kids heads range greatly in size, so all children must be fitted in person to get the correct helmet size. The league purchases Riddell helmets.
Shoulder Pads - Kids shoulder length range greatly in size, so all children must be fitted in person to get the correct shoulder pad size, The league purchases Riddell X-Force pads.
Pants – Game pants are provided by the league and Parents must purchase practice pants. The league purchases Allison integrated pants. Practice Pants & pant pads are sometimes sold for $8.00 while supplies last, they are last year's game pants.
Jersey - Jersey sizes vary greatly from brand to brand. The league supplies two official game jerseys with one to be used as a practice jersey. The league purchases Allison jerseys.
Shoes - Football shoes are fairly standard. Most players wear black, no metal spikes please.
Footballs - The practice balls are the TDJ for 5th and 6th grade or K2 balls for 1st through 4th grade. They are composite (not leather). Many players purchase gloves (which vary in size as well). Various elbow and arm pads exist as well. Whatever you purchase (including footballs), write your name on it.
Water Bottles - Most importantly, your son will drink lots of water. Make sure he has some water at every practice. Coaches are provided with water jugs for practices and games, however until things are worked out for each team it is a good idea to bring your own water.

3. Jock strap is recommend, but not required.
4. Standard Mouthpiece supplied by league, but some people choose to purchase

Items you need to pickup before the first practice:
1. Practice Pants (White is what most kids wear)
2. Football Shoes (No metal spikes, Black is what most kids wear)
3. Jock w/protector cup encouraged
4. Practice Jersey to slip over shoulder pads
Northwest Football provides shoulder pads, helmets, game jerseys and game pants. Parents are required to write 1 deposit checks.

Equipment deposits will be returned when we get our equipment back.
Practice Pants are sometimes sold for 5.00, while they last during equipment pickup day. They are last year's game pants. All game pants and jerseys are bought new every year.
Sizing Helmets - If your son has a hat size (fitted cap from baseball for example) bring it with you. Helmets are sized off of cap sizes. Kids heads range greatly in size. Smaller heads will take a medium helmet while larger heads will take XL. The league purchases Riddell helmets.
Shoulder Pads - The league purchases Riddell XForce pads. The key to getting proper shoulder pads is to ensure that the pad that runs underneath the shoulder pads runs long enough to cover the player's shoulders from end to end. You can measure this distance if your player can't attend a fitting by measuring from the ball of the top of the arm to the other arm. Sizes run as follows:
XS - 70-100lbs
Sm - 90-120lbs
Med- 100-130lbs
Lg - 130-150lbs
XL - 140-160lbs
Pants - pants vary somewhat from brand to brand. Football pants are made to snap in a set of pads that can be interchanged between practice and game pants. Size your pants loosely to allow for pads and jersey tuck-ins. Parents purchase practice pants while the league provides game pants. The league purchases Riddell pants.

1. Practice Pants (Academy Sports has em, White is what most kids wear)
2. Football Shoes (No metal spikes, Academy Sports has em, Black is what most kids wear, we play some games on grass and terf)
3. Jock
4. Practice Jersey to slip over shoulder pads (5th-6th graders will get practice jerseys donated to them from one of the parents, a backup jersey wouldn't hurt).
5. Mouthpiece optional (many get their dentist to make one)
