AA
-----------------------
Trophy Club is a founding member of North Texas Interlock.
The North Texas Interlock Baseball League, a combined effort of the surrounding communities, is committed to providing our area's youth with the opportunity to play baseball in a competitive and enjoyable environment while developing our youth's physical, social, and emotional maturity.
N.T.I. Statement of Purpose: The North Texas Interlock Baseball League is an organization formed by the surrounding community's youth baseball associations. The N.T.I. Member Associations work together to organize, administer, and manage AA level play between their community's teams with a balanced home and away schedule. Thereby, offering our youth a competitive level of baseball while experiencing the diversity of the various ball parks offered by the Member Associations.

Players ages 9-14 participate in this league. Should you choose to try out, the commitment should not be taken lightly. This is a considerable commitment of time, energy, and money for the AA players/parents. AA Baseball will be a one season commitment. The Fall and Spring seasons will be addressed separately. The AA teams will play a 15+ game schedule with half away and half home games.
The number of teams TCYBA places into the NTI AA league is based on a number of things to include the following:
1) quality and history of the coaches that apply
2) past success of these coaches
3) past success of that age groups All-Star teams
4) current number of sanctioned select coaches in that age group
5) field space availability
6) general parental/player interest, etc.
AA baseball is NOT an equal play program. It is a place for those who choose to play a higher level of baseball. For the most part, the best players will consume the majority of the repetitions. That being said, we do encourage all coaches to provide a memorable experience and attempt to service each player with quality game time experience.
1. What is AA Baseball and how does it differ from current recreational or select leagues?
TCYBA and many neighboring communities recognize and utilize the USSSA Baseball, Incorporated Team Classification System. The primary focus of USSSA Baseball is the development of programs that allow teams of all skill levels to compete against one another. USSSA believes the overall development of all players can be enhanced by the experience and fun of national tournament play. Until now the majority of players were denied this opportunity because of their skill level. USSSA Baseball offers programs for four levels of play. Major and AAA programs are national programs that culminate in a World Series. The AA program is a regional program run by participating states that culminates at a National tournament. The A level is for recreational teams and is at a state level only.
Classification Guidelines- State Directors determine actual classification.
Major Division- The top competitive teams in the country.
AAA Division- Middle of the pack competitive teams.
AA Division- Teams that have restricted rosters, drafted players, or play at the rec level.
A Division- Recreational League teams only.
Currently, youth baseball in the D/FW area is strongly represented in the A and AAA levels. By developing the AA format, NTI now provides the opportunity for better recreational teams to play in a select environment against similar teams from neighboring communities.
2. Why isn't their more information on AA ball?
Because it's very new in our area! As time allows, our volunteers will be adding more documentation to our web-site. This FAQ section is an attempt to get more information out quickly.
The AA league is new this season. Many hours, many meetings, many emails, and many phone calls, have taken place to get this program organized for play this fall. Being so new, there have been many questions regarding this program. I'm sure it will not be perfect this fall. Be assured that NTI will make any necessary adjustments, as time allows, to this AA program to continue to improve the offering for the player and their families. Back To Top
3. Do I register for the TCYBA recreation league?
Yes, you need to register as you would if NTI AA baseball didn't exist. If your player makes a AA team, there will be additional costs for uniforms and maybe tournaments if your teams elects to play past the regular season.
4. What additional costs will a AA player incur?
Other than the TCYBA player registration fee, AA teams have to pay for their own uniforms. AA teams will play a few more games than the recreational league and the umpires for AA games cost a fair amount more than the recreational league umpires. There is also a small per team fee for AA teams that play in NTI, so the cost this season is the same for AA players as recreational players. The additional costs for the AA umpires and games will be covered by the fact a recreational uniform will not be provided by TCYBA to the team. The AA coaches will have to manage the additional costs for team uniforms (and any AA tournaments the team may join). In summary, the parents of AA players should expect additional costs after normal TCYBA player registration fees are paid. These costs will vary depending upon the uniform selected by the team/coach.
5. What uniforms can be selected?
Each TCYBA AA sanctioned head coach will choose the team name, uniform, and colors. We will advise the coaches to be responsible with the uniform costs since the AA teams are formed each season. There is no guarantee that a player on a fall or spring AA team will be asked back in the following fall or spring season.
Once a coach is selected by the AA coach selection committee, they will need to take care of their team's uniforms.
6. When and how will coaches be selected?
Coaches must submit an application to the TCYBA AA selection committee. Each of the committee members should have considerable coaching and administrative experience in recreational and select baseball. Once this committee interviews via phone or in-person the coaching applicants, they will recommend the coach selections to the TCYBA board. Once the TCYBA Board approves the committee's recommendations, the selected coaches will be notified by telephone. Their name will also be posted on the TCYBA web-site.
7. How do I tryout for a AA team(s) and when will I know if my player made the AA team?
All AA teams will have an open tryout for all the age appropriate players that would like to tryout for that team. All the AA tryouts will be held a few days after the coaches are selected; those coaches will be assigned a field and time to have their tryout. Coaches will select players sometime after their tryout, but no later than the rec season draft.
8. How many teams will there be in each age group?
The TCYBA Board provides the AA Selection Committee with a suggested number of teams per age group. The Board's recommendation is likely to be only one AA team for ages 9U through 14U
9. Will there for sure be AA teams in all age groups?
Not necessarily. There is no plan to have teams at all age groups sponsored by NTI. If there isn't enough coach or player interest throughout the NTI member associations, some age groups may not make.

Trophy Club baseball is a founding member of Bear Creek Baseball.
Bear Creek is the home of some of the finest Community baseball in North Texas. We are the organization that schedules, governs, and provides league and tournament play for some of the largest Community baseball groups in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area. The teams that play in Bear Creek are the traveling or "classic" teams from our member associations. These associations include: Carrollton, Colleyville, Coppell, Denton, East Fort Worth, Euless, Flower Mound, Grapevine, Highland Village, Keller, Lewisville, North East Optimist Club, Richland, Southlake, and Trophy Club. The associations provide umpires and support for the Bear Creek Baseball association throughout the season.
Bear Creek Baseball also has several non-association, or independent teams that are voted into the league each Spring and Fall season. These teams register and are approved by the Board of Directors at the start of each season. Qualifications include level of competitiveness and a coaching staff in good standing with the voting associations. Home fields for independent teams are either Integrity Park in Argyle or Texas Star in Euless.
Our league is registered with U.S.S.S.A. Your U.S.S.S.A. registration fee is paid as part of your league fee. Teams register as either AAA or Major. If there are not enough teams registered (at least 4) in either class all teams will play together. Bear Creek also subdivides the AAA division into More Competitive (Red) and Less Competitive (White) divisions to allow for balanced play where there are 12 or more teams registered and there is a clear delineation of team competitiveness.
League play consists of three seasons, Spring and Fall for age divisions 9u through 18u and a Summer League for age divisions 16u, JV and Varsity. The Spring season usually consists of 18 games played on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and runs early April through the end of June with an end-of-season tournament for age divisions 9u through 12u. Summer league play consists of 15 games and runs mid-June to mid-August with double headers on Saturday or Sunday. The Fall season usually consists of 12 games played as double headers on Saturday or Sunday and runs mid-September through the end of October. Registration for each season opens about two months prior to the start of the season. Fees differ by season, depending on the number of games played. Independent team fees run about $100 per game while association teams receive a discounted rate of around $70 - $80 per game. Background checks are required for every coach. Association sanctioned teams are checked by their association. Bear Creek performs background checks on all independent coaches. All teams require liability insurance. Association sanctioned teams are covered under their association's policy. Independent teams may purchase insurance through either U.S.S.S.A. or Super Series or a insurance carrier of their choice.
Trophy Club Baseball covers:
-Insurance
-Background Check
-Bear Creek Support (rainout lines, scheduling, infrastructure)
-Equipment bag (not baseballs), Deposit Check required
Registration fees vary per year with Bear Creek. Typically, Trophy Club Baseball enters teams at a cost of $1495. Independent teams can register directly with Bear Creek for $1800 (plus Insurance, background check, and other misc fees).
