When does the season start?
The 2009 Little League Season officially begins on opening day, April 18, 2009 at 8:00 AM-1:00PM at Kit Carson Park. No games will be played on opening dayMost teams will begin practice in late March or early April. Portraits by Ladonna will be onsite for team and individual photos.
When does the season end?
The 2009 Little League Season will end June 12, 2009. Most games will be played Monday through Friday evenings.
Who is my child’s coach?
Players will be assigned to coaches and teams in late March. Expect a call from your coach the first week of April.
When will my child practice?
Individual coaches schedule all practices. You will find out about practices when your coach contacts you the first week of April.
What section will my child play in?
The league is broken up into six age divisions. Unless you specifically request a different division, your child will be placed in a division based on their age.
o 4-6 years old Tee Ball
o 7-8 years old Machine Pitch
o 9-10 years old Minor League
o 11-12 years old Major League
o 9-10 years old Minor Girls Fast-Pitch Softball
o 11-12 years old Major Girls Fast-Pitch Softball
o 13-14 years old Junior League
o 15-16 years old Senior League
o 17-18 years old Big League
When are tryouts and does my child need to attend?

What equipment do I need to provide for my child?
Each player must have his or her own glove and shoes that they are able to run and play in. If your child wears cleats, they must be plastic. Not metal cleats will be allowed.
What happens on opening day?
Opening day ceremonies begin at 8:00 AM at Kit Carson Park. We encourage all players and their families to be in attendance. This is the official kick off to the season and is attended by the Mayor and other dignitaries. No games will be played on opening day. This year, we will have photographers on hand to take pictures of teams and individual players.
What does the $50 registration fee go towards?
Taos Little League is operated solely by volunteers. Your child’s registration fee is used to pay for equipment, umpires, insurance, and a season of fun and learning. This also goes to pay for your child’s uniform. Coaches and officers do not receive payment of any sort.
What about a uniform?
The uniform that you child receives this year is theirs to keep.
What about raffle tickets?
Each player is asked to sell 20 raffle tickets to help support the operations of the league. This year the tickets are $3 a piece. There are 4 $100 gas cards, 4 $100 grocery cards, 2 $500 cash prizes. Your Coach or Team Mom will distribute the raffle tickets within the first week of practice, they must be returned to your Coach or Team Mom by April 10, 2008. The raffle will be held on Opening Day, April 18, 2009.
