The Tampa Blades win their 3rd Presidents Day Tournament in a row this week end in Clearwater. The Blades won their pool and secured the first round by and #1 seed for championship day. The semi final game was against the West Florida Young Guns with Monroe on the hill. The game stayed tight through 3 innings until the Blades unleashed their offense scoring 7 unanswered runs while Monroe worked through the Guns line up holding them to 4 runs for the day, final score Blades 10 Young Guns 4. The Championship game once again proved to be a dog fight between The Blades and the Bomb Squad. With Zach Payne (Blades) and Colin Richardson (Bomb Squad) pitching the table was set for a pitchers dual with two of the states best 14u pitchers battling it out. The defense was outstanding as usual from both teams making at least 2 ESPN quality plays per team. Both pitchers lived up to their reputations by keeping the game scoreless until the relievers took over. With the teams tied 0-0 going into the 7th the game proved to be Paynes night as he lead of the 7th with a double to right field. With Willis pinch running for Payne all that was needed was a grounder to the right side to advance him to third followed by a sacrifice fly by Arce to bring him in to score the games only run. Great tournament Blades!

The Blades demonstrated once again why they are one of the top 13U teams in the nation. The Blades played hard baseball all weekend against great compitetion. Hats off to Zach Payne for having a three hit shut out against the Tampa Stix.

The extensive rain throughout the weekend of the tournament set the stage for the Blades to have the longest Sunday they have ever had. Unlike most of their opponents that day the Blades had to play all of their games in one day! This had the Blades with each win facing yet another rested opponent as they grow more weary as the day drug out. The Blades first game began at 9am that morning and the Championship game did not conclude until 1:30am the next morning. The battles were tough, but the boys played through all five games without complaint. They showed true heart all the way and then proved to be incredible sportsman as they congratulated the Predators one by one. I could not be more proud of this fine example of athletes and young gentlemen. Everyday these boys remind me why I love to coach them! The Blades now will be playing for their respective High Schools through the month of June, but the month of July we will back to the grind with our eyes set on a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Thats right the TAMPA BLADES claim their second STATE TITLE of the season by winning the AAU Fall Classic. The Blades cut through the competition with a 6-0 record and recorded 2 shut outs. Highlights as follows.
BATTING
Knapp and Willis both logged 7 RBI's while McCloud and Ramsay both crossed the plate 8 times.
PITCHING
The pitching was outstanding with Prieto 9 innings, Knapp 10 innings, Payne 9 innings, Ramsay 6 innings and Padgett 1 inning shutting down all their opponents with the help of their flawless defense. Prieto once again pitched an incredible Championship game lulling the Blackwolves to sleep painting the corners of the plate. GREAT PITCHING WINS TOURNAMENTS!

The Blades took 3rd place in the AAU Winter National Tournament of Champions. The team finished out 2004 with a 3rd place victory making their overall AAU fall record including AAU Tournaments to be 26 & 1. The boys need to be congratulated on an incredible run of 26 consecutive wins! Unfortunately all winning steaks end with a loss. Nothing left to do but try and top that in the Spring of 2005. Great job boys I could not be prouder of all of you!

The Blades finished the AAU regular season this fall undefeated and ranked number one in the State rankings! This season has been outstanding as the players adjusted to the big field like true players. I started the season with the prediction of "best ever" and the boys made it come true. I look forward to the upcoming tournaments with great anticipation. The players skills and endurance will be tested hard as we will enter this conflicts with the bulls eye square on our chests. Time to cowboy up!
