The Tailgators Sports Club idea was formed in the summer of 2002 when a group of lacrosse and soccer players got together to compete in their respective sports. A number of us had been competing with or against each other for a number of years and we wanted something a bit different than what was currently being offered to us. We got to talking and we all found that we were looking for teams that would be competitive and fun. Most of us were already done with our collegiate careers but we weren't ready to hang up the boots just yet nor did we want to be on the field with people we didn't like. We all thought that it would be great if there was a team/club out there whom we could play for that was competitive and fun. In February of 2003 we got our acts together and made it official and the Tailgators Sports Club was formed. This site is reserved for both our Men's Lacrosse teams, our Coed Soccer teams, as well as our runners; bikers and adventure racers.
Our teams are made up of players with various backgrounds. The guys that play lacrosse have played in college (either club or varsity). Our soccer players have differing playing backgrounds, some with experience and others without. Our goal is to play competitive sports and to enjoy ourselves while doing it. Currently we compete year round in leagues in Colorado, Rhode Island and Massachusetts as well as Connecticut and New York. In addition to these leagues we also travel to play in various tournaments. The lacrosse team has traveled for tournaments in Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and in 2008 four of the lax guys went to Berlin to play in the Berlin Open. Over the last 6 years the club has made great strides in their progress and have always kept to the core thought of playing competitive sports and enjoying ourselves. We instituted the "no creeps" rule which essentially means that if you're a jerk on or off the field you're not welcome and unfortunately we've had to enforce that rule from time to time.
