***Update of Nautica Poker Charity Festival 9/17 to 9/20***

The SYHC Board has revaluated the Nautica Poker Charity Fundraiser opportunity we have scheduled for the weekend of September 17 through September 20.  As you will recall, it was previously stated that this would be a mandatory fundraiser for our travel program and that our travel teams would benefit by proceeds going towards travel teams’ tournament fees.   Upon further evaluation, the Board has determined that this is not only an opportunity to increase our General Club Fund but also an opportunity for all of our Club members (both travel and house) to receive a discount  towards their assessment.  Therefore, it has been determined that those members who participate will be eligible to receive a discount on their player’s individual assessments.  To be eligible to receive a discount, you must volunteer and work a minimum of 8.5 hours, (or a 5 hour shift with a partner).  The following shifts are available:
  • Thursday, 9/17-  4pm to midnight, (volunteers arrive at 3:30pm)
  • Friday, 9/18- 4pm to midnight, (volunteers arrive at 3:30pm)
  • Saturday, 9/19-  2pm to midnight, (volunteers arrive at 1:30pm)
  • Sunday, 9/20- 2pm to midnight, (volunteers arrive at 1:30pm)
  • Thursday, 9/17 to Sunday, 9/19-  7pm to midnight,  Individuals may also volunteer for a 5 hour shift, (7pm to midnight) if they wish to partner with a spouse or friend; this will fulfill the obligation of working a shift
A $10 discount will be provided for each hour volunteered, (an individual may volunteer for more then one shift, and may volunteer for all four shifts and receive the applicable discount for the total hours volunteered)*  *please note: volunteers will be required to sign a participation agreement stating that it is their responsibility to claim the discount on their taxes; the Club will not be providing IRS Form 1099’s Sign up sheets will be available during tryouts.  There are 50 volunteer slots per day that will need to be filled, in addition to dealers; customer service positions are also available.  On site training will be provided at Nautica, for those who wish to participate.  Training will be provided on the following Wednesday’s:  8/19, 8/26 and 9/2, between the hours of 6pm to 9pm. We do recognize that there are Club members who will not wish to participate.  For those families of travel players who do not wish to participate, you will be assessed a $100 fundraising fee with your first assessment due September 30th.  This fundraising fee will be applied to the General Club Fund and will benefit all of our players.   We do encourage all members to volunteer for a shift, as it is more beneficial for our Club to have our members volunteer then to pay the $100 fundraising fee.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any board member.

SYHC is pleased to announce a Golf Outing sponsored by Top Shelf Hockey Acedemy on July 26th at Mallard Creek Golf Course. For further information please see the tab to the left "Top Shelf Golf Outing".
