Quote for the week...

May 15-21, 2006 "Friendship... is not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything."
~Muhammad Ali~

May 08-14, 2006 "Nobody's a natural. You work hard to get good and then work to get better. It's hard to stay on top."
~Paul Coffey~

May 01-07, 2006 "Getting what you go after is success; but liking it while you are getting it is happiness."
~Bertha Damon~

April 24-30, 2006 "Success is where preparation and opportunity meet."
~Bobby Unser~

April 17-23, 2006 "You have to recognize when the right place and the right time fuse and take advantage of that opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities out there. You can't sit back and wait.
~Ellen Metcalf~

April 10-16, 2006 "The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club wont be worth a dime."
~Babe ruth~

April 3-9, 2006 "Don't ever let any of the stuff that happens (or doesn't happen) affect how hard you play. You will find that the only thing that counts is whether or not you feel good about how you did - if you wait for other's approval or accolades, you are missing the real meaning of being a competitor."
~Unknown~

March 27-April 2, 2006 "I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion."
~Mia Hamm~

March 20-26,2006 "I don't believe there is such a thing as a 'born' soccer player. Perhaps you are born with certain skills and talents, but quite frankly it seems
impossible to me that one is actually born to be an ace soccer player."
~Pele~

March 13-19, 2006 "Good teams become great ones when the members trust each other enough to surrender the me for the we."
~Phil Jackson~

March 6-12,2006 "Self-trust is the first secret of success."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

February 27-March 5,2006 "The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him
should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in soccer to make him do any work." ~George Graham~

Check out this website....(Click on me)

Here is the internet link that shows all the moves that the girls need to become
familiar with you can also find it under links on the left.(Or just click on headline)

www.strongsoccer.com/Kingdrills/15minipractice.htm#inbtwns"

There are 25 moves (there are actually 21, 6 turns and 15 fakes, but 7 variations, for a total of 28). I expect each player to be familiar with each move; that is, they should be able to execute it easily without a lot of thought or effort. However, they are to MASTER one, and only one, move by the end of the season. This will become their "signature" move.
I don't care which move your daughter picks. I don't care if all the girls pick the same move (they won't). I want them to be able to do the
move so well, so that even if a defender knows it's coming, it still successfully creates space and/or opportunity.
The only way they will get this good at their signature move is by practicing it every day - yes, every day - at home. We cannot take the
time at practices for them to do this and they should be practicing a lot at home; not just at the team practices.
