Divisions of Play
SW Portland Little League provides T-Ball, Baseball, and Softball programs at a variety of different age levels shown below. The different levels correspond to the levels set by Little League Baseball, Inc. of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. For a detailed description of each level of play, please visit the National Little League site.
If you have a child considering playing with SW Portland Little League, we form teams in the divisions indicated below. Please note that the ages shown give you an idea at what level children generally play. Tryouts are required where indicated, so age does not automatically place you at that level. You can learn more about tryouts here.
League age is determined by what age the child is on January 1, 2007. Generally younger kids are able to play at a higher level if they can demonstrate their skills at a tryout. It is possible for an older child to play at a lower level, but there may be pitching restrictions or other rules that you should look into.

T-Ball (coed): Ages 5-7

Softball
A - Ages 6-9 - coach pitch/kid pitch
AA - Ages 7-10 - coach pitch/kid pitch
AAA - Ages 9-12* - Competitive - Tryout required
Majors - Ages 10-12** - Competitive - Tryout required

A - Ages 6-9 - coach/machine pitch
AA - Ages 7-10 - coach pitch/kid pitch
AAA - Ages 9-12* - Competitive - Tryout required
Majors - Ages 10-12** - Competitive - Tryout required
Junior Baseball: Ages 13-14
* or one year of AA experience if younger
** or one year of AAA experience if younger
