SWLL FALL BALL 2009

Thanks to all the SWLL Volunteers who made it possible for the 2009 Fall Ball Season.

Many Managers and Coaches put in some hard work to get the fields ready after the heavy rains.

All Stars

Tournament Bracket & Pool Information posted on the All Stars page

9 A's - The 9 year old players represented SWLL well on 6/19 with a win in it's opening game against Ocean South 5-1.  Matthew Yard (who received "player of the game" from the tournament staff) and Johnny Crowley threw very well and our offense and defense came up strong giving them a lot of confidence.  It was nice to see everyone contributed in our debut.  Next Game is against NWLL  which is always a very competitive game.

10 A's took there first game against Neptune City/Bradley Beach 14-0.  The second game the won against Belmar/Avon/Lake Como 21-0.  The thrid game was a win against Asbury Park.  The next game is against Manasquan Brielle on Friday 7/17 for the final game of pool play.  Round 2 starts on Sunday but all six teams are not seated yet.  Us and Manasquan/Brielle will be two of them.

10 B's play in their tournament final on Thursday in East Brunswick.

11 A's started it right with a 9-0 win over Spring Lake Heights.  The second game they took Ocean South, 10-0.  In the third game, it was a hard lost to North Wall, 10-0.  The fourth game in Pool Play against Howell Central we defeated them 17-9.  The boys played great in what was a seesaw extra inning battle up until the top of the 7th inning when we exploded for 8 runs.  We had clutch pitching, defense and our bats finally woke up.  It was a total team effort.  So we went 3-1 in pool play and now we go on to play in the 2nd round.  We started Round 2 against Howell South.  The second game in Round 2 we took it away from Manasquan/Brielle, in a thrilling extra inning game.  We had dominating pitching, clutch defense and timely hitting.  We were losing 5-0, they had bases loaded with no outs in the 1st and we held them scoreless the rest of the way.  Our next game is on Saturday 7/25 at 11:00 a.m. against North Wall in Howell South.

12 A's are doing GREAT in the first round they went 4-0.  First game againt Ocean North 14-3.  Second game wining 11-1 against North Howell.  The third game defeating Asbury Park 14-0.  With the fourth game was a tough win against Manasquan/Brielle 6-5.  Second Round Game 1 they defeated Spring Lake 9-0.  Then they took on Howell South.  They advanced to the District final with an 8-7 win over North Wall.  The District Final is Friday 7/17 at 6pm on our Major Field.

12 B's won the EBBL “SLUGFEST” tournament with a convincing 15-5 win.  The team was focused on winning the tournament & through their exceptional effort, outstanding play & teamwork brought home the first place trophy.  They went undefeated 6-0, outscoring their opponents 70-22 in the six games.  The Team -Tim Pannuzzo, Dan Wright, Austin Binder, Matt Fischer, Chris Quinlan, Brendan Brady, Cristian Carlson, Ryan Sussman, Steve Smith, Jake Croson, Mike Vialonga, & Tim McGevna - GREAT JOB!!!

13 AS's were doing well - 3-1!  The whole team played great.  But had a tough defeat against Howell Central.

The SW Junior Boys won their first district game on 7/1 against S.Howell 7-2.  The game was played at S.Howell.  Harry Paytas was the winning pitcher giving up only 1 earned run.  Tommy Panico led the offense going 3 for 3 and knocking in 2runs.  Then winning the second game 12-9 against N.Howell on 7/6.  Richie Bomenbilt led the offense w/2 doubles, 1 single, and 2 walks and scoring 4 runs.  Brain Madden pitched 5 straight innings for the win. The third game they pulled off a 3-2 win over Howell Central in 11 innings.  Harry Paytas pitched 6 and 1/3 strong innings.  Tommy Panico came in in relief and pitched 4 and 2/3 shutout innings being credited w/the win.  Matt Osgoodby drove in 2 runs w/a 2 out single and also scored the winning run in the 11th.  In the District Final, they move on to the Sectional 3 Tourney with a exciting bottom of the 7th thinning rally against Central Howell.  The Final score was 10-9.  The team fell behind 9-8 entering their last at bats.  After tying the score with an infield hit Matt Osgoody drove a line drive single to left field scoring Harry Paytas for the winning run.  Richie Bomeblit picked up the win, pitching in releif.  Dillon Twyman led the offense with a 3 run homer.  He ended the game 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's... They were 4-0.  There next game will be next week at SWLL. Date and time T.B.A.

Softball Sectionals - The 9/10 girls went 3-2 to finish 3rd in the District.  All finished now except for blowing off some steam at the Parker House tomorrow night 7/29 6-10pm - celebrating the end of a good season.

Presidents Cup

All the teams that made it to the finals are all winners.  In the Minor League the Blue Claws pulled it out in the last inning to take it from the Lookouts.  For the Majors - the Yankess managed to take it away from the Red Sox.

In the Junior League Play-offs, the Tigers ripped up the Yankees.
