Time once again for the kickoff of another sports season for our Sharpsville Blue Devils. Tonight marked the annual Meet the Devils Night at McCracken Field. Coaches in football, golf, cross country, soccer, volleyball, and basketball introduced this year's team members. The band and the cheerleaders were on hand to provide entertainment. Watch right here in the coming weeks for game stories and pictures of another exciting Blue Devil sports season!
The Eisenhower band's halftime show featured what appeared to be a king size bed but it was their football team who were put to rest by the home team from Da Ville. With the "mercy rule" in effect the entire second half, the Devils dominated their season opener last night at The Pines with a 42-7 win over visiting Eisenhower. It was a long night for the Knights who could manage only one score on a breakaway kickoff return. Running back RJ Golub had two rushing TD's and a total of 90 yards. Aaron Reddix had three TD's, one a 67 yard rush from scrimmage and the remaining two on a couple of beautiful punt returns both over 70 yards. QB PJ O'Connor completed the scoring with an 80+ yard run. Check the album section for all the pics and the video section for an MPEG. Sharpsville has now won 12 straight regular season games dating back to the 2003 season. Come on back to see them go for 13 next Friday vs. Karns City!
The Devils bounced back from last week's loss and blanked Cochranton tonight, 24-0. Once again the ground game was balanced with multiple ball carriers contributing to the win. Check the pics in the album section and there are two new videos up this week. We are "on the road again" next week so see you in Conneaut Lake!
Sharpsville improved to 4-1 overall with a big win over Conneaut Lake Friday night by a score of 42-0. The Devils ran up another game of impressive offensive numbers and Ian Brown's 4 TD runs combined with a Joe Joseph 80+ yard interception return and an Aaron Reddix TD made for a short night with the "mercy rule" in effect early in the 2nd half. Next week the Devils will host the Lions af Lineville at the Pines in another big Single A matchup. Be there! Devils 2005 Football Schedule Now Out! Sharpsville upped their record to 2-0 by stomping the visiting Karns City Gremlins tonight 35-14. In doing so, they extend their regular season winning streak to 13 and gain momentum before their showdown with Kennedy next week in their first big test of the year. Everybody got into the spotlight tonight as the Devils used a balanced scoring attack and put Karns City away before the half. Sharpsville used big runs from Ian Brown, Aaron Reddix, Ryan Morris, and RJ Golub to light up The Pines scoreboard. Check out the albums page for a bunch of pics and take a look at this week's movie too. See you next week right here!
It was a night of blown opportunities as the Devils let several chances to take this one in regulation slip away. In a game that more than lived up to it's hype, Kennedy Catholic snuck into The Pines and stole this thrilling 21-20 overtime contest. A blocked PAT in OT spelled defeat for the home team after both teams scored running TD's on their first plays from scrimmage in overtime. It was a heartbreaker for sure and now the Devils can only hope for revenge in a future playoff game against this much improved KC team. Check out the pics in this week's album.
Sharpsville improves to 5-1 with a big win over last year's D-10 Championship game opponent Linesville. The Devils pounded the Lions 31-7 at The Pines in tonight's homecoming game. Check the albums page for all the game pics and the homecoming festivities at halftime. See you next week for the big West Middlesex game.
Congratulations to Ashley Rice, this year's Homecoming Queen and to His Royal Highness, Ricky Golub the 05 Homecoming King!
In an all important Class A matchup last night, the Devils came away with a big win against West Middlesex. In a game that appeared like it was going to be close early, Sharpsville's defense shut down the Reds after the first quarter and took the annual grudge match 32-7. Playing on the road in a game with huge implications, the Devils all but assured a playoff spot and another shot at the team who dealt them their only loss this year, KC. Watch here for soon to be posted pics. See you all at Lakeview next week! Devils Lambaste Lakeview The Doc was out of town at a medical conference battling boredom and Hurricane Wilma this weekend so unfortunately, no pics from this weeks game (crack photog BloodRunsBlue is definitely getting his paycheck docked this week!). The final was 62-12 in a game that was never close. The Devils have essentially sealed up a playoff spot and will face an improved Sharon Tigers team next week in the season finale before moving into the D-10 playoffs.
This one was never close. The Devils jumped out to an early 28-0 lead and cruised the rest of the way to a 49-6 blowout of their namesakes from the north. We now head once again to the north to face off against Fairview next Friday night 11/11/05 at 7:00 PM at Erie McDowell's stadium.
Sharpsville finished out it's regular season last night with a big shutout win over the Tigers of Sharon. The final was 28-0 in a cold muddy finale at The Pines. This year, the Devils outscored their opponents by a total of 316 to 68. They allowed an average of only 7.5 ppg and scored an average 35 ppg! This season also included three shutouts. This game closes out a very successful 8-1 season and sends the Devils into the D-10 Playoffs next Saturday. We face Cambridge Springs on the turf at Wilmington High at 1:00 PM Saturday November 5th. Be there!
Well, it's the Devils vs KC once again for the District 10 Championship. Sharpsville jumped out to an early lead on the undefeated Tigers of Fairview. It was 17-0 in the second quarter when Fairview mounted a comback and eventually lead the game 20-17. But the Devils offensive fireworks weren't done as they roared back with two scores to regain the lead and then held it for the rest of the game. Sharpsville came away from Erie McDowell stadium with a 38-26 win. Check out the album page for some pics of last night's game. It's Sharpsville Blue Devils vs KC at 7:00 PM Friday November 18th at Slippery Rock!!! |
