Big Sky Park was Recently Honored

SVGS and the McPherson Family had the opportunity recently to show off our new fields to none other than Sue Enquist of UCLA and in her words she said, "You really put the pants on these fields!" How true that is! With covered dugouts and stands, scoreboards, regulation size fields, a special blade of grass, a state of the art snack bar and real restrooms, Big Sky Park is probably the best place to play girls softball in the State of California if not the whole United States. But over and above the quality of the facilities there are three things that make Big Sky Park a place that leaves you awestruck when you see it for the first time. The first thing is the view of Simi Valley. You stand anywhere at those fields and look out upon your community and can't help but feel the dedication put into the fields and the pride of living in Simi Valley; Second, you look above you and the only thing you can see for miles and miles is the beauty of the blue sky. Last but most importantly, as you look up into that beautiful sky, you know Amanda's spirit is with you. She's right by your side chasing down that fly ball, rounding third and going for home and sitting on the bench cheering with you. Amanda is there and because of that being at Big Sky is a spiritual experience!

Already our fields have been graced with the presence of softball legends; Sue Enquist and Jenny Finch. You could be the next and proudly say you played Simi Valley Girls Softball when you were young! Register now for the greatest softball experience and your chance at being the next great softball legend!

Big Sky Park was recently honored as the "Best New Facility" by the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts.   The new girls' softball complex offers fields for all levels of girls' softball and a concession stand to provide leagues fundraising opportunies. - Simi Valley Acorn, May 2, 2008
