Simi Valley beats East County 4-3 to guarantee a top ten finish at the national tournament. Next game is tomorrow at 11 against Santa Paula.

We are now 4 and 0. We play at 2pm tomorrow against East County (San Diego).

Thu, Jul 30, 2009 at 4:52 PM
We beat Hillsboro Oregon 17-0 in three innings in the first elimination game. We play Santa Maria at eight tonight.

Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 10:04 AM
We are now 2 and 0 with game scores 5-0 and 9-0...so no runs against which helps as we get seeded for bracket play. Won't know our Thursday game time until 10 pm tonight!

Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 10:36 PM
Our first game was postponed from 2pm to 8pm due to the heat. It was 107 but the artificial turf was about 120 and the heat was radiating off it . Umpires and players were passing out. Anyway we won 5 0 and play at 8am Wednesday .

12U Gold All Stars

The team was plagued with injuries this season. The only tournament we were healthy for was the T.O Tournament. The girls were off to a great start and we took home our first trophy, but injuries would soon follow. In Northridge, Amanda came up with a badly sprained ankle. At practice the following week, Annie and Caitlin both suffered injuries. Then, Melissa was diagnosed with a degenerate back problem that surfaced during all stars. Despite these injuries, the team played strong taking 2nd in Northridge and 1st in Simi's Amanda McPherson Tournament. On the way to Districts, the Toczynskis were in a car accident leaving Melissa with a crushed ankle and Annie with injured ribs and neck/back pain. The team persevered, and came in 2nd place in Districts and advanced to State.Read more at VenturaCountyStar.com

While at the State Tournament, we lost our first game forcing the team into a "must win 3 games in a row" scenario. During the 2nd game, Annie re-injured her ribs and was out for the rest of the tournament. The team went on to win 3 games in a row and qualified for Nationals! We are headed to Milwaukie, Oregon, the week of July 26th.

Due to the injuries, the team has welcomed 2 new additions for our stretch run. Michaela was brought up from Silver due to her tenacity and superior play. Jenna, a pitcher from WAGS, has joined us to help with pitching duties. Whether it is Ambria, Savanna, Maria, Megan and Annie setting the table or Allison, Amanda, Madison, Caitlin, Karly or Summer hitting them in, the girls have contributed to our team batting average of .379 and have a team on base percentage of .476 going into the National Tournament. Congratulations on your hard work and accomplishments girls. Melissa, we wish you a smooth recovery.

Your coaches,
Brien, Sam, Bob, John and Jeff.

THE McPHERSON FAMILY HUMANITARIAN AWARD:

Last season, Simi Valley Girls Softball awarded the McPherson family the first ever McPherson Family Humanitarian Award. This annual award will go to the person or family who displays all that the McPherson Family represents - Love, Faith, Family, Selflessness, Strength, Courage, Commitment, Community, Dedication and the ability to show everyone they can make a difference. This year's recipient was Kathleen Motzel and her family. Kathleen volunteers as team mom for 2 teams, is a Girl Scout Leader, volunteers at her church teaching Sunday School and is the coordinator of musicals for the youths at her church. Her daughters, Kaelyn and Natatlie, are best known as the two that thank their managers and coaches after every game, practice of event. Their family is committed to making a difference and "doing good things".... My husband said it best with, "Kathleen makes you want to be a better person". Thank you Motzel Family for your commitment to making the world a better place!

2009 ALLSTAR SEASON UNDERWAY!

SVGS has changed their allstar colors and they look AWESOME! In honor of Amanda McPherson, the allstar uniforms were changed to Purple, White and Black, Purple being Amanda's favorite color. The players proudly wear their new uniforms, bring awareness to a great cause and continue to emulate the example of all that the McPherson's represent!
