Club Director, Coach Jimmie is heading into his 6th year as club Director and is going into his 8th season coaching for Surprise Volleyball Academy. Prior to his involvement in SVA, he has been playing and coaching various youth and adult sports programs at a competitive level for over 20 plus years. Jimmie is going into his 4th season serving as the Freshman volleyball coach at Valley Vista High School. Previously, he was the Head Coach at Paradise Honors High School, putting together their first team. He played collegiate club level volleyball in Germany from 1983 through 1986 while serving in the military. While there he enjoyed two seasons with the Hanau Hornets, winning the V Corps Championships in 1985, and one season with the Frankfurt Falcons while playing second setter and defensive specialist. He also played and coached his intramural volleyball team in the off season and led them thru two undefeated seasons. Playing and coaching continued upon returning to the United States which led to several undefeated seasons for his travel team playing throughout the Southeast.
Upon moving to the Phoenix valley in 1994, Jimmie continued to volunteer his time towards coaching and teaching youth sports, which included, baseball, softball, soccer, football, martial arts, and of course, volleyball. He continues to lead athletes to achieve their fullest potential.

Assistant Director, 17/18's Ambush & 14's Krush, Coach Vicki Turrell
Assistant Director, Coach Vicki Turrell is going into her 4th year with SVA and has over 25 years of coaching experience with grade levels ranging from 1st through college age players. Recently, she had led the SVA 17's Ambush team to  a USAV AZ Region Championship Bronze Division Champion finish and coached the SVA 13's Khaos team for the festival.  They finished as a Contest Winner with a 7-4 record in this tournament.  In 2011,  she coached the  18s Ambush team to a silver medal finish in the USAV AZ Region 18s Championship Gold Division.  Prior to the last few seasons Coach Vicki coached for Arrowhead Volleyball Club for 6 years. She has had the pleasure of coaching the number one team in Arizona for the 12’s in 2008. She has experience coaching all age groups in club volleyball.   Under Coach Vicki's reign at Millennium High School for seven seasons, MHS became one of the top teams in the state of Arizona, Region Champs the last 5 of her 7 years, and consistently made a showing in state playoffs. In 2005, the MHS team finished fifth overall in the 4A State Division I Tournament and in 2004 the team finished in the top 4.  She resigned from the position to spend more time with her own kids. 
Coach Vicki's collegiate career was finished at Grand Canyon University as a defensive specialist.  Prior to that she played volleyball and softball for Aurora University in Illinois for 1 year and Kankakee Community College for her Freshmen and Sophomore years.  She was a setter her first 3 collegiate seasons and throughout high school.

17-18's Ambush, Assistant Coach Samantha Orth

Coach Sam Orth is returning to SVA for her second year.  Last season, she was the assistant coach for the 14-1's Krush team.  She played volleyball for Valley Vista High School, Lawrence Free High School in Lawrence, Kansas, and Sandra Day O'Connor High School.  Coach Sam played club for Surprise Volleyball Club (before it was Surprise Volleyball Academy), Zia Volleyball club, and the Lawrence MAVS in Kansas.  She played in the Friday Night Draws at Victory Lanes every year for 5 years, and played grass and sand volleyball still for fun.  Coach Sam played as a middle and right side, she always played back row as well.  Her experience as a player includes all positions and was a player for 7+ years.  She attends Glendale Community College and is heading over to ASU in a year to get her bachelor's in Communications.

18's Attack, Coach Tonya Lee

Coach Tonya Lee was born and raised in Peoria, AZ. She played volleyball on the varsity team for 3 years at Centennial high school.  She went on to play at Glendale Community College and Grand Canyon University playing Middle Blocker.  Coach Tonya then coached for Zia Athletic Club for 5 years for the following age groups: 14, 15, 16, and 18's.  Last year, she coached for Finer Points coaching the 18-1's team.  She has coached high school for 6 years: 1 year at Phoenix Christian and 5 years at Valley Vista HS.  Coach Tonya has coached dozens of girls who have made it on scholarship to play volleyball.

18's Attack, Assistant Coach Emily Thomson

Coach Emily Thomson is born and raised an athlete. She was a varsity letterman in four sports at Centennial High School before going on to play volleyball at Glendale Community College and finishing her career at Grand Canyon University. As an outside hitter, she found most of her joy in blocking and playing defense. She graduated from Canyon with a degree in Corporate Fitness and Wellness with a Health Education Minor and went back for her MBA with an emphasis in Leadership. Since graduating, she has coached club volleyball in Phoenix for a number of years Arrowhead and Zia.  She works as an Office Manager for a physical therapy clinic in Scottsdale. She loves hanging out with her dog Bruin, running half marathons, trying crazy workouts, anything competitive, new restaurants and hanging out with her best friend Tonya.

18's Attack, Assistant Coach Vicky Bauler

Coach Vicky Bauler is a born and raised Arizona native. She played volleyball at Agua Fria High School(Avondale, AZ) as a libero. She went on to Grand Canyon University and played defensive specialist/libero for 4 years. While in college, Coach Vicky coached for Club Zia (15's) and AZ Desert Sky (15's and 16's). She has also coached for Club Arrowhead (16's). Graduating from GCU with a bachelor's degree in math for secondary education, Coach Vicky accepted a math teaching position at Kellis High School in Glendale, AZ and also the varsity volleyball coach position. She has been the head coach for 4 years at Kellis and she also started the boys volleyball program in the spring of 2012. In May of 2013, Coach Vicky received her Masters degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration in hopes to one day become an athletic director.

15/16's Warriors, Coach Megan Rude

Coach Megan is excited to join the SVA coaching staff.  She has coached seven of the last eight years.  Her coaching experience comes from the following clubs: Verrado Volleyball Club, Westside Volleyball Club, Club Arrowhead and Litchfield Starlings.  She has coached levels from 12's - 14's.  In the middle of her club coaching experience, she fit in as a volunteer coach for Agua Fria High School working with all levels.  She also has provided individual technical training in different positions as well.  One of her highlights as a coach was with the Verrado Volleyball club.  She took her team from a 72nd ranked position to a 3rd place finish in the Club A Gold Division.  She was also the 5th graders coach at St. Thomas Aquinas elementary school in 2006.  Her career as a player began as a 12 year old first with recreational ball and then on to club ball with Zia and Azone 'till she was 18.  Coach Megan played high school ball at Millennium as the starting setter for four years at the varsity level.  She then moved on and played for two more years for South Mountain Community College as the starting setter there too.

15/16's Warriors, Assistant Coach Ashley Guth

Coach Ashley is in her 4th year coaching club volleyball. Her first 3 years were with AZ Desert Sky as a 15, 17, & 18’s Asst./Head coach. She started out playing school and club volleyball in 8th grade. Club was for West Valley Juniors & AZ Grand Canyon Juniors. She played Varsity Volleyball for Millennium High School for 3 years. She then went on to play college ball at Graceland University in Iowa for 4 years. Also coaching for the college volleyball camps while working for her coach, helping out with Graceland Volleyball recruiting. She graduated with a Recreation Degree in 2010. She still from time to time helps Graceland Volleyball recruit. Ashley has played numerous positions on the volleyball court. The 2 positions that stuck with her were outside hitter and defensive specialist. She also still plays in a women’s competitive volleyball league for the AZ Region.

15/16s Rage, Coach Kristy Herrington
Kristy is going into her 5th year coaching with SVA. She played 7 years of club volleyball, 4 years at Deer Valley High School, and 4 years at Western New Mexico University. Kristy was twice selected to the Arizona USAV High Performance Team and also played for Deer Valley during 2 of the seasons they were Nationally Ranked. In 2002 and 2003, she was an All-Region player and an All-State selection in 2003 as well. She left Deer Valley holding the season kill record and went on to play for a very successful collegiate program. At WNMU, she was part of 2 Conference Championships and was the starting right-side for WNMU’s first ever trip to the NCAA Regional Championship in 2005. WNMU returned to the NCAA DII Regional Championship in 2006 as well for only the second time in school history. Kristy has coached numerous camps both locally and at WNMU.   She coached the JV girls team at Valley Vista for 4 seasons and also has been the Assistant Coach for the Boys Volleyball team.

15/16s Rage, Assistant Coach Alyssa Montoya

Coach Alyssa Montoya is returning to SVA for her 2nd year of coaching.  She was the assistant Coach for the 16's Rage team.  Her high school career was through Millennium as a defensive specialist for the varsity team for 3 years.  Coach Alyssa gained her experience through the following clubs: Arizona Primitive, Arrowhead, and AZVC as well.  She is currently attending Grand Canyon University and studying to be a History Teacher.

14's Krush & 17/18's Ambush, Coach Breann Turrell

Coach Breann Turrell comes back to us as a coach this time from Aurora University in Illinois.  Upon her return, she was the assistant coach for the 13s Chaos team for the Festival.  They finished as a Contest Winner with a 7-4 record in this tournament.  She played for SVA 18's Ambush team for 2 years.  In 2011, she was a part of the USAV AZ Region 2nd place finish in the Championship Division as a setter.  Prior to playing at SVA, Coach Bre played for Arrowhead for 6 years starting at the age of 10 years old.  She has enjoyed and have made lifelong friends through her experiences with club.  Her high school career was through Millennium.  Last spring, Coach Bre took on her first task of coaching for the Illinois Heat for a 12's team.

14's, Krush Assistant Coach Dez Lopez

Coach Dez Lopez is excited to start her second year with SVA.  She was the coach for the 14's Mayhem team.  She has love and passion for the game, with having played volleyball since she was 12.  She played in Middle School and in High School at Haltom High in Texas, and she like to get the occassional sand volleyball game in too.  She has been a huge sports fanatic all her life and she knows how to find the right balance of hard work and fun.

14's Mayhem, Coach Elizabeth Alford

Coach Liz Alford will be in her 1st year with SVA.  She played four years with Parker High School with three years at the varsity level.  Coach Liz earned Most Valuable Player and All Conference in 2005 and 2006 as well as the senior all star and 1st team all state awards.  She continued her career in college beginning at Phoenix College.  She was an honorable mention all conference and her team finished 4th in the Nation.  She moved over to Pima Community College and earned Honorable Mention All-American.  She finished her career as a player with one year at Northern Arizona University.  Coach Liz has coached club teams in her hometown of Parker, AZ as well as assisting with coaching the Varsity team at Parker High School every time she goes home to visit.  She loves coaching and everything about volleyball.

14's Mayhem, Assistant Coach Ana Caballero

Coach Ana Caballero will be coaching her third season with SVA.  She has assisted our first ever 12's Sabotage team to a number one finish at the Vulture Peak Challenge and has coached our 16's Rage team in 2012.  Coach Ana has played volleyball since she was 12 years old.  Her experience led her through the playing at the following clubs: Zia, Storm, and Arrowhead.  She had the opportunity to play for Glendale Community College.  Her high school experience was with Millennium where her junior and senior years, she was elected to be a captain and played as the libero.  She played at the varsity level her sophomore year as well.

13's Khaos, Coach Mike Moreno

Coach Mike Moreno will be in his 2nd year coaching with SVA.  He is currently the volleyball coach for Lake Pleasant elementary school for the girls team.  He played for an intramural competitive indoor team at Scottsdale Community College and played in various beach leagues and tourney's throughout his career.  He coached for Madison Meadows elementary school for the 7th & 8th grade boy's team and led them to an undefeated season in 1994.  Coach Mike has 20 years experience in coaching different teams among the following sports: basketball, baseball, and indoor/outdoor volleyball teams.

13's Khaos, Assistant Coach Rhiannon Polak

Coach Rhiannon is joining the team of SVA coaches this season.  She played for Millennium High School and Varsity for three years.  She played sand volleyball for four years and club for five years.  Coach Rhi's experience in club started out at Litchfield Park and then played for Zia her 15-18's season.  She played as an outside hitter, opposite, and setter through her career.  She also played with White Tanks for the Festival Tournament one summer.  She is looking forward to the upcoming season and her venture as a coach.

13's Snipers, Assistant Coach Molly DeLeon

Coach Molly Deleon has played volleyball for the last 10 years.  She is a graduate of Millennium High School.  Coach Molly is in her first coaching position this year with Trivium Prep Academy.  She is attending Grand Canyon University, majoring in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Math.  Coach Molly is student teaching right now and will graduate in December.  She loves to play sports: softball, volleyball, and swimming.  She is all about fun but still keeping things competitive.

11/12's Sabatoge, Coach Heather Webb

Coach Heather Webb joins the coaching staff of SVA with 10 years of experience as a coach.  Her coaching career consists of junior high and high school volleyball at Valley Vista, three years coaching a 12's team for Phoenix North Valley Club, and 2 years as a volunteer coach for the City of Surprise Recreational League.  She played for Cactus High School at the Varsity level for three years.  She continued her career in adult leagues.  She is currently a Guidance Counselor at Valley Vista High School  and has 15 years of experience in the educational field.

11/12's Sabatoge, Coach Dani Eberhart

Welcome back Coach Dani.  Coach Dani Eberhart is returning to SVA as a coach for her 3rd season.  She stepped away from coaching to begin her career in the veterinary field.  She began playing volleyball in 6th grade at Garden Lakes Elementary and that was all it took to get her hooked on the game.  When she was in 8th grade, she began her career in club volleyball at Club Arrowhead.  She continued to play for Arrowhead for 3 more years and 1 year for AZVC, in conjunction with playing her high school career at West View High School.  Coach Dani's position on the floor was a setter.
