Are you looking for something DIFFERENT than the "normal" competitive cheerleading squad? Then "DARE TO BE DIFFERENT" with the Surf City Cheer Animals

Our practices are held indoors, in a safe environment. Come cheer with the ANIMALS, our new season begins every May!

We are an All-Star competitive cheerleading program for young girls and boys, young ladies and gentlemen specializing in training of beginners and intermediates ages of 4 and up with various levels of ability. Our teams are competitive at a state and national level. If you are looking for a place to start, or are already an accomplished young competitor, and you want enthusiastic instructors who believe that anyone with the desire to work hard can be a cheerleader, the Surf City Cheer Animals is the All-Star Squad for you.

Our teams practice twice a week for 1.5 to 2 hours on cheerleading skills. Tumbling skills are incorporated into the practice time. Additional tumbling time is arranged by levels and abilities. These teams are beginners to advanced level that work on team synchronization, enhancing motion technique, correct jump execution, landing technique, dance coordination, as well as beginner to elite level stunts. These teams attend local competitions, perform at local exhibitions, and may attend a few out-of-town competitions. These teams do not normally attend out-of-state national level competitions, although if teams qualify, it would be a joint decision between the parents and the coaches as to whether we would/or would not go.

Team Schedule

SCCA Cheer All Star teams practices twice a week for 1.5 to 2 hours on cheerleading skills. Tumbling skills are incorporated into the practice time with additional tumbling time scheduled by level and ability.

Bravery for Avery

image_name2
Surf City Cheer is a strong supporter of the community and in charitable events. Several times a year we participate in events and involve the teams in community service projects to give back, in hope that they will learn the value and reward of this work.

On Memorial Day, Surf City Cheer participated in the "Avery Day Fundraiser & Dodge Ball Tournament" at Newhope Gymnastics. The fundraiser, for Avery, a 4 year old sweetheart from Huntington Beach, CA who was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 15, 2008.

Avery is being treated at CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County) and while her prognosis is very good, they have about a 95% CURE rate for this type of cancer in kids her age, she faces over 2 solid years of chemotherapy, treatments and procedures.

Many local area business participated in this event donating items for a silent auction and raffles to raise money to help with her medical expenses, it was estimated that $30,000 was raised.

People from all over have come together to support Avery and her family during this difficult time, but Avery will be undergoing treatment until August 2010 - and her family still needs your support!

Click on "Bravery for Avery" and it will take you to the website to lend your support!

What Surf City Animals have to offer...

Surf City Cheer Offers:

All programs need to have structure and carry a responsibility to develop ethical, responsible young adults. Our program, while making lasting memories, promotes team spirit, contributes to a positive attitude, encourages sportsmanship, and supports athletic abilities in a fun and safe environment. All cheerleaders’ academics must maintain a standard level throughout the year.

Our program knows that cheerleading is more than competitions and, by focusing on the helpful lessons of the sport, athletes learn valued qualities and important life lessons, including responsibly, leadership, self-confidence, self-esteem, creativity, socialization, and teamwork, as well as commitment.

Communication, as well as enthusiasm, is keys to a promising relationship between the cheerleaders, parents, and staff. Smiles are genuine and given freely, and no questions will be left unanswered.
