Dylan Paris graduated from The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he lettered 3 years and started in the outfield for Coach Gene Etter's Red Raiders on the 1995 District and Regional Champions and the 1996 District, Regional and Sub-State Champions. He hit .456 his senior year in the District, Regional, Sub-State and State Final Four Playoffs, hitting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the Regional Championship. As a senior, he also tied the school record for triples in a season. He played collegiately at North Florida Community College in the Panhandle Conference where he tied for the team lead in triples, at Cleveland State Community College where he hit .400 with a home run and 5 RBIs during the TJCAA State Tournament and at Carson-Newman College where he hit .356 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs in two South Atlantic Conference Tournaments, despite being plagued by injuries throughout his collegiate career. During his high school, college and Cyclone career, Paris was successful on 142 out of 153 steal attempts. Paris was versatile enough defensively that he played all 3 outfield positions at various times during his collegiate career. Paris graduated with a B.A. in Marketing with a 3.45 GPA, having been an Honor Roll student for 9 semesters. Carson-Newman awarded a James Dylan Paris Award and Scholarship every spring to recognize the rising senior, student-athlete who has done the most to advance Carson-Newman's baseball team's performance in the SAC Championship Tournament during their career for several years. Paris was the first Chattanooga Cyclone and holds several Chattanooga Cyclones' records. During his career, Paris received extensive hitting instruction from and/or was coached by former major leaguer, Keith Kessinger, current Philadelphia Phillies hitting instructor, Sal Rende, former number one draft pick and career .300 hitter in several minor league seasons, Tim Costo, and former eight year veteran of the Mets' minor league organization, Alan Carmichael. He has provided private hitting instruction for numerous players over the last 5 years at the Real Sports Academy. Among his hitting “students” is 2009 freshman All-American Dylan Craig and 2009 All Freshman, our team member, Jon Clinard. He has coached in the fall and summer at the 18U age group for several seasons, winning over 80% of the games in which he has served as head coach. Paris is currently in management with FSG Bank.
