BUMS BEAT THE SQUAD IN MICKEY MANTLE LEAGUE

The BUMS when a long way to beat the B E SQUAD 6-3, after a good 1:30 minute drive for most of the team the boys came out and beat a 16's yrl team. Good pitching performance from both Miguel Peres (3 innings) and Scott Heineman (4 innings) kepted the SQUAD to only 3 runs. The game could have been wide open but the lack of clutch hitting kepted runs of the board for the BUMS. Great job boys and keep working hard and stay FOCUS.

RINS 2007 MEMORIAL DAY
BUMS FOLLOW UP AABC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH SUPER SERIES MEMORIAL DAY CHAMPIONSHIP

The Bums spent Memorial Day weekend proving that their AABC State Championship was no fluke. The Bums swept through the tournament in six games, winning by a cumulative score of 40-8. They showed themselves to be equally comfortable either playing with a lead or trailing. The Bums came from behind in three of their six wins, overcoming deficits in one game each day. On Saturday, the Bums opened with the Inland Empire Street Dogs and fell behind immediately, the first two Street Dogs scoring. Trailing 2-0 after the first half inning, the Bums cut the lead to 2-1 in the home half of the first. In the bottom of the second, three Bums hits loaded the bases. Two consecutive bases loaded walks put the Bums ahead, and they never looked back. Matthew Troupe and David Armas limited the Dogs to two hits and one run over the last four innings, and the bats scraped together three more runs for a final score of 6-3. In Game 2, four Bums pitchers (Miguel Perez, Sergio Plasencia, Edgar Montes and Anthony Esparza) combined to shut out the powerful Palm Desert Dodgers on one hit. The Bums did not surrender a hit for the last six innings. At the plate, two runs in the first frame proved enough, but, for good measure, Oscar Tinjaca's third inning grand slam was the crushing blow. The game ended 6-0.
After a short night, the Bums were back to work at 8 a.m. on Sunday, with their second consecutive shutout, this time 8-0 over the OC Diamondbacks. This time, only two pitchers (Scott Heineman and Jose Marquez) combined for the second one-hitter in less than fifteen hours. The offense scored early and often, pounding out eight hits in four innings to mercy the D'Backs 8-0. In Game 4, the Bums showed their ability to pull out a tight, low-scoring game, coming from behind with a run in each of the last two innings to win 2-1. Again, the pitching was strong by David Armas, Matthew Troupe and Tanner Reibenspies, but the name of the game was defense, with several outstanding plays in the field.
The Bums entered Monday as the top seed and met the So Cal Dukes for the fourth time in less than a month. Though the two teams are well-matched, as evidenced by the three previous meetings, decided by a total of four runs, the Bums got the early drop on the Dukes in the first inning. The first six Bums to bat all scored, highlighted by Oscar Tinjaca's second grand slam of the tournament. Tanner Reibenspies went 6.1 strong innings for the win, and Sergio Plasencia closed out the game, the Bums holding on to win 7-3. The Bums finished out the State Championship in style, with a strong victory over the San Gabriel Valley Cobras. The Cobras jumped on top in the second inning, 1-0. In the bottom of the inning, the Bums broke open what could have been a very different game with five runs. The Cobras had stranded two runners in the first inning and three in the second, with Tanner Reibenspies hauling in the final out each inning near the center field fence. The Bums tacked on one run in the third inning and five in the fourth to end the game and take the Championship 11-1. The Bums' strong pitching and spectacular defense shut down some of the toughest offenses in California, giving up a total of six runs in the last 35 innings of the tournament. Nine different Bums pitchers combined for a cumulative tournament-long ERA of 1.56, with only one pitcher throwing for more than a total of six innings for the tournament. The team's fielding percentage was well over .950, worthy of nine Gold Gloves. Congratulations, guys!! Keep up the great work!
