Dave Scott Benefit
A great time was had by all on Saturday at the Dave Scott benefit "throw back" tournament. It was an "old school" day from balls to attire. Everyone got a kick out of the old school uniforms worn by some of the braver souls. It seems that players really enjoyed using the old bats as it makes for such a truer game of softball.
Most importantly, this turnout showed support to the Scott family from the softball community. It meant so much to them. To know there were people there supporting them in their time of need that have never met the family shows what a wonderful group of people "YOU" are.
Again, thanks to all that came out to support and enjoy the day and continue to pray for this wonderful family.

The MET

The MET was one of the most amazing tournaments I have ever been involved with. People traveled from far and wide to attend this event in honor of one of the finest men that ever lived. This could have never been the success it was without you, the player. Thank You for that. There were many others that so generously contributed to the success of this event. We cannot thank everyone enough.
The weekend brought a little of everything, starting with the opening ceremony. The Color Guard was a very impressive site on the field with the players lined up on the foul lines. The National Anthem was sung by a 14 year old girl who did an amazing job. To finalize the ceremony, about 150 red, white and blue balloons were released and anyone there would agree this was an awesome sight. The DJ's that played music thoughout the day and night added quite an atmosphere to the park.
The raffle items were unbelievable. Businesses and personal donations made this well worth the $1 ticket it cost for a chance to win.
The fireworks display that was donated by JNM Displays was second to none and enjoyed by all.
A BIG thanks goes out to Tim Lord and Worth Sports for donating the bats that were given to each team that entered.
Teams entered this for the great cause and to have fun. There were still a lot of competitive games that made it fun for all involved.
Midday on Saturday there were several competitions with many entrants. Congratulations to the winners:
Base Running-Joe Chitwood, Snappers.
Hitting Accuracy-Jeremy Brutcher, STL Pillz.
Throwing Accuracy-Matt Alvarado, Brewzkeez.
Homerun Derby-John "Chief" Watts, All Army 2.
Congratulations to the tournament champions. Seeds-Men's Division and Play 'n Derrty-Coed Division. Both teams were undefeated. Seeds had some "Come from behind" victories that showed fierce competition and a never give up attitude, which reflects Mike Turney's attitude toward softball and life in general. Good job to both teams!
The awards presentation in the Men's division on Sunday, which wrapped up the tournament also included the check presentation to Peggy. The check was written out in the amount of $10,099.00. The actual figure came out to about $500.00 more than that after some last minute donations. Again, without everyone's input, this would have never been possible.
Let's all remember this weekend as one of our fondest.
