Sunset West H20

Sunset West H20 is a "watered down" club program for players from 3rd grade thru 6th grade (we still play with a volleylite).  The players practices are shorter and the tournament formats are adjusted so the players aren't responsible for learning how to keep official book and officials' signals.  H20 has "modified" tournament rules where players are allowed a "mulligan" serve when they are just learning the how to over hand serving. The players are all registered USAV and will receive an official jersey.  The season is shorter, as well as the tournaments.  Players are also welcome to attend ALL the free friday night clinics for the entire BIG club season.  Please email/call/text Jaisa Poppleton 402.690.1642 or japoppleton@mpsomaha.org if you have any questions. For dates and time please download the handout below if you would like to sign-up or need more information.

Where & when does my daughter's team practice?
Practices are held at elementary and middle schools in Millard, each team chooses an evening practice that works best for them.

When do practices start? We will practice on Sundays in the month of December and begin week night practices in January

What are the differences in “levels” in teams? Gold level teams play in ALL day tournaments with refs provided by the region.  Non-gold level teams play in “modified” tournaments, typically with a shorter day.

How many coaches are there per team?
In most cases there are 2 coaches per team.

Is Sunset West just for girls in the Millard South attendance area?
No Sunset West has players from all over.

Where & When does my daughter team play?

Tournaments are all held on Saturdays & Sundays, starting in January.
Actual tournament playing schedules are not available until a few days before the tournament.

What site does my daughter's team play at?
Finalized tournament schedules are not available until the week of the tournament, so you will not know what TIME your daughter's team plays until mid-week the week of the tournament.

What session does my daughters team play?
Tournaments are divided into 2 sessions a morning session that starts at 7:30 AM and ends at 2:00 PM and an evening sessions that starts at 2:00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM - you won't know what session your daughter has until mid-week the week of the tournament.

How do we know if practice is canceled?

Check the web site OR call/text your coach!!

What jersey should my daughter bring?

Each player is provided with 2 jerseys and she should bring both with her - to all tournaments. WHY - In case the coach decides to use a libero our in case the jerseys are to sweaty after to pool play and the girls want to change for tournament play.

What does Sunset West have to offer?
Sunset West is a training club that has been around for 30 years, we pride ourselves in "amazing fundamental training". Players will have the chance to learn and compete at multiple levels of volleyball.

How many teams are formed at each level? Sunset West prides itself in being a “non-cut” club, we try to place players on teams.  In some cases we form 4 teams at each age level, and in other cases if girls are in need of more fundamental, we can combine age groups.

What do I do with my sweatshirt order form? - turn it in to your coach at your first practice - SWEATSHIRTS are not required - just optional!

What are Friday night clinics?

In 2015 – Sunset West will be hosting specific “skill” clinics for current players who would like some extra help and extra reps. Local high school coaches, local college coaches and college players will serve as guest instructors. The clinics are a free service. Times are tentatively scheduled from
