Little League Adopts Change in League Age Determination Date
Beginning in 2006, the date to determine the league age of a player changed. For over 55 years Little League has used the date of July 31 to determine the league age of a player. The league age of determination date will now be April 30,
For example, under the old date if a child turned 13 in May, June, or July they would be considered league age 13 for the entire season. Under the new regulation the child would be considered 12 for the entire season.
Softball dates are changing as well. The date to determine the league age of all softball players is now December 31st of the prior year. Under the old regulation, a player who turned 13 from January through July would be considered league age 13. Under the new regulation they would be considered as a 12 year old.
