"I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?" - Yogi Berra

Jeremy Schultz 1973-2011

It is with a heavy heart that I regret to report that we have lost former Braves manager Jeremy Schultz.  Schultz suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 90% of his body while evacuating his family from their home after a fire at 4:30 on the morning of December 30th, 2010.  He fought hard for 29 days before his injuries were too much to overcome and he passed on the morning of January 28th, 2011 at 5:39AM.

Schultz initially joined the Braves as a player, before stepping up as a manager/player for the Braves in 2002.  Shultz took the Braves to the CMABL Championship Series in only his 2nd year at the helm and proceeded to play in 5 straight CMABL Championships from 2003-2007.  During his run, Schultz won 2 CMABL Championships in 2004 & 2005.  Schultz also served on the league's Judicial Committee from 2004-2007.

Following the 2007 season, Schultz stepped away from baseball to focus his time on his family and his career as a cameraman for CBS Sports & ESPN.  Schultz had expressed his intentions to eventually return to the field before his life was so tragically cut short.  You will be missed my friend.

Messages for Jeremy's family can be left on his caringbridge site linked thru his memorial pic above or thru the Jeremy Schultz Family Donations Page on Facebook.  Donations can also be made via www.jeremysfund.org.
