ABOUT THE SUDBURY YOUTH WRESTLING. . .
Sudbury Youth Wrestling is part of the Friends of Sudbury Wrestling, a non-profit organization raising local awareness for amateur wrestling in Lincoln and Sudbury.  We are funded by a portion of each member's registration fee as well as other fund raising efforts; donations are always welcome.  Founded in 2000, SYW is a charter member of the Massachusetts Youth Wrestling Association.

Practices for the wrestlers in grades 5-8 are held Mondays and Thursdays 6:00 - 7:45 at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School from late November through February. If coaching volunteers become step forward, we will consider restarting the K-4 program.

MEMBERSHIP/FEES
The fee for the 2011-2012 season is $150 and covers equipment costs, secondary medical insurance coverage and Big East Middle School Tournament registration fees.  Membership is open to anyone from Sudbury or Lincoln in grades 5 - 8.

WEIGHT ISSUES
Weight loss is not part of Sudbury Youth Wrestling or any program affiliated with the MYWA.  However, some tournaments and dual meets will utilize pre-established weight classes.

SCRIMMAGES
Wrestlers may participate in scrimmages in December and January with other local wrestling clubs. No standings, team scores or wins/losses are recorded at scrimmages. They are meant solely as a practical, hands-on learning opportunity for the kids.

TOURNAMENTS
Sanctioned tournaments are scheduled throughout New England many weekends in December - March.  Coaches, parents and wrestlers decide which (if any) tournaments they wish to compete in.

Pre-Practice Behavior

Please instruct you wrestlers not to enter the wrestling room until instructed by either one of the youth coaches or high school coaches if the L-S High School team is still practicing.  Wrestlers, especially the younger ones, are not to be left unattended at L-S while waiting for the high school wrestlers to finish their pratice and vacate the room.  It is the responsibility of the parents - not the coaches - to monitor the behavior of the kids before they enter the wrestling room.

Inappropriate behavior while waiting for practice to begin will not be tolerated and may be grounds for removal from the team.
