NVSC STRYKERS:Tournaments
How do the Strykers decide on tournaments?
vysa.gif
The Strykers typically participate in 3 to 4 tournaments per season. As always, Coach Lanza has the final say on which tournaments we participate in and he has knowledge of many great tournaments! However, there are a number of sites that have lists of tournaments and some even rate them. Of course we utilize the VYSA website as well as word of mouth from other teams but at present we also visit GotSoccer.com! Right now they appear to be the front runner of soccer sites that have tournament listings. They have over 470 tournaments listed and ranked by the competition that a specific tournament attracts! We normally try to select tournaments that "draw" the strongest teams from nearby leagues and states and all these resources help us with this goal.

Results from all of our tournaments beginning with the Fall 2001 season can be found on our History/Honors page, and specific stats on the Game Results Page.

The Strykers played in the top bracket of this tourney and didn't have a fun time of it. The boys lost all 3 games 1-0 but played each team they faced tough. They were still missing a couple of players with injury so a lot of boys had to play new positions. On Sunday they began to find some chemistry and played some pretty good soccer but couldn't find the back of the net. They were in this game until the final whistle.

2006 Columbia Invitational Tournament

SAC_LOGO
The Strykers played some tough teams in the 2006 Columbia Invitational Tournament and finished 0-2-1. They played well in the 2nd and 3rd game and could've won both of them if the ball would've bounced a little differently on the fields that we had to play on. They had to adjust their style of play because of field conditions and unfortunately they didn't do it until late in the 2nd game. It was a good tourney and the boys came out of it with some confidence after coming back from 2 goals down in their last game.
