SAINTS CHAT

6/27 - St. Peter completes the regular season sweep of Winthrop with a 5-1 victory.  Jeremy Braun tossed a complete game gem and wiley veteran Nate Ryan had two hits and a pair of RBI's.

Ryan got the offense started with a two run two out single in the second, immediately after the hit the rain came and the teams were called off the field.   The delay didn't affect Braun as kept the Eagles bats in check with a pinpoint fastball and sweeping breaking pitch.

The win moved St. Peter to 7-6 in league plan and 9-6 overall.

6/24 - The Saints brought there bats to Prior Lake on Tuesday plating seven runs.  The problem was Prior Lake had bigger bats.  The Jays scored 16 runs while banging the ball around, and out of, the park.  The loss dropped St. Peter to 6-6 in league play.

ST. PETER TOPS WINTHROP

6/22 - Tom Lacina made his first appearance of the year and picked up the win as St. Peter topped Winthrop 8-7 on Sunday.  Lacina releived Grant Nelson and pitched 3 2/3 innings while giving up 3 runs.  Billy Hanson came in to close the door on an Eagle's rally in the eighth inning and pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.  Ben Michelson paced the Saints offense with 3 hits.

The win moved St. Peter to 6-5 in league play and 8-5 overall.

6/19 - St. Peter traveled to Shakopee on Thursday night but neglected to "show up".  Shakopee came away with a 11-1 victory in seven innings.

SAINTS SWEEP WEEKEND

6/9 - St. Peter completed a regular season sweep of Gaylord on Sunday night with a 3-1 victory.  The Saints put togehter 9 hits off of Islanders' starter Darin Hendley, which proved to be enough for Zach Horning.

Horning was aided by two double play balls, both with runners and first and third, and a nice running/crashing in the fence catch by centerfielder Eric Minter to kill Gaylord rallies and keep the Islanders from mounting a comeback.

Up next is New Ulm on Wednesday night and Fairfax on Friday.

6/7 - The second rainout in as many weeks canceled Thrusday's scheduled contest with New Market.  St. Peter returned to action last night and came away winners over Gaylord by a final of 6-4.

The Saints got off to an early start scoring 4 runs in the 2nd.  Patience at the plate paid off as all four runs were scored without the aid of hit.  The bats did turn on later in the game as 2 runs were tacked on in the eighth.  Tim Hoffman registered the big blow scorching a double to the rightcenter field gap.

Grant Nelson and Jordan Sebach were effectively on the hill and the defense played well behind them.  For the first time all season, no errors were committed.

St. Peter will try and sweep the home and home with Gaylord Sunday night.  First pitch at Gaylord is 6:00.

 SAINTS DROP TWO

A round of Thunderstorms resulted in the cancelation of the scheduled Friday night game against Apple Valley.  As of now the game will not be rescheduled.

6/1 - Le Sueur traveled to St Peter for the first of two against league opponents on Sunday.  The Braves left a 4-3 winner.  Le Seuer took advantage of a two out error in the 5th to score two unearned runs.  Along with the unearned runs missed oppurtunities in the 6th and 8th innings to tie or take the lead cost the Saints.

6/1- Henderson was the second opponent of the day and wasted no time jumping on St. Peter scoring 6 runs in the 2nd.  It was smooth sailing from there.  Henderson pounded the ball to the tune of 15 hits and came away a 14-5 winner.
