Gator Showcase Champions!
Having only 11 players on their roster, the U15G Storm team emerged victorious over President's Day weekend at the Gator Soccer Showcase in Gainesville, Florida. The team played up an age group in the U16/U17 division to gain some valuable playing time prior to State Cup. The Storm started off the round of pool play against the U16 Gulf Coast United team and won by a score of 3-0. Michaela Hahn got a hat trick and Nicole Biscardi had two assists. Marina Marcinik also had an assist in this victory. In the second game of pool play, the Storm met and defeated the U16 Largo United Wolves by a score of 8-1. Michaela Hahn got a hat trick plus 1. Shannon Anderson scored one as did Megan Le and Marina Marcinik. Defender Morgan Quinn also scored on a penalty kick. Additionally, Megan Le had three assists in that game and Marina Marcinik had two. The Storm then met their toughest opponent in the Miami-based U16 Cagliari Strike Force. While the Strike Force was a strong, physical team, the Storm was determined to make it to the finals. They fought hard, even after going down a player when Lydia Plotz took a hard hit and rolled her ankle. While the injuries were definitely a set back, the Storm worked hard and defeated Cagliari by a score of 3-0 with goals going to Michaela Hahn, Megan Le and Marina Marcinik. Assisting on two goals was Michaela Hahn and Megan Le had the other assist. Heading into the championship, the Storm team was forced to play a man down when Coach Edwards told Lydia she could not play (even though Lydia was determined to play). He just did not want to aggravate her injury. So, the Storm fought extra hard against the physically powerful and determined U16 Jensen Beach Fusion. The Storm got on the score board early after a pass-back was made inside the box. Michaela Hahn scored on the indirect kick with an assist going to Nicole Biscardi. Marina Marcinik then scored on a break-away, having been fed the ball by Hailey Sebree, who was credited with the assist. It was a close game; however, the Storm ended the weekend by winning the final by a score of 2-1. Head Coach Paul Edwards told the girls he was proud of them for hanging tough and overcoming the obstacles they encountered. Assisting Coach Edwards was Kevin Anderson, who noted the girls showed fierce determination, which also filled him with pride. Assisted strongly in midfield and defense were: Shannon Anderson, Hailey Sebree, Lydia Plotz, Kasey Gutierrez, Kiera Keesecker and Morgan Quinn. It should be noted that together with goalie Caitie LeBeau, the defense had two shut outs, and only gave up two goals the whole weekend. Caitie also had over 30 saves in goal. While Sarah Hall and Carlee Emmons were on injured reserve this weekend, they showed strong support for their fellow teammates by traveling to Gainesville to cheer on their friends to victory. As if it was not already a terrific weekend, the highlight of the tournament was a visit by Heisman Trophy Winner and National Champion Florida Gator Quarterback, Tim Tebow. Some of the girls even got to watch the Gators' Women Team play a tough exhibition match against Mercer University. Being this was the first weekend following the conclusion of the high school season; the Storm proved they were up to the challenge. They showed off their great team chemistry and overall love for the game of soccer. They are looking forward to the start of spring league play and of course, the State Cup tournament. Congratulations Storm -- we are SO proud of you all!

Successful First Round at State Cup
The Storm continued their winning ways over the weekend at Palm Bay Regional Park. The Storm were successful in defeating all three opponents in their bracket at the first round of the Florida State Cup. The team scored 10 goals and did not give up one goal the entire weekend. What an amazing job on the offense, defense, mid-field and keepers. It was an overall team effort, which was really impressive. WAY TO GO, STORM!! Friday, May 29
