UPDATE: School is closed again on Tuesday, December 22. While you all surely think this is good news (I do too...sshhhhhhhh...) we are losing another practice. Since my original practice schedule - posted right below this post - did not have practice on Wednesday, December 23, I am not going to change that at this point. While we really need to practice, I'm sure the snow has delayed some of yours and your folks Christmas preparation.
This means we will not meet as a team until Saturday, December 26. It is imperative that you continue to train, as best as you safely can. For distance runners, volume is all you need to do. Sprinters should try to work in some faster running, and throwers should try to lift if they can. Again, we just try to do the best we can in the winter, especially under circumstances like this snowstorm. The goal is to get you to the spring track season fit, healthy, and happy. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me. Don't stress though. We will discuss the Lehigh Meet on Saturday.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
As you are surely aware, school is closed Monday, December 21. This means we can't practice. You must continue to train on your own, however you can safely do so. If you have a treadmill, that's probably your best option for the next couple days. While I did run outdoors tonight, I would not allow my kids to do so. Talk with your parents before trying to run outside. Nothing is worth you getting hurt. In the winter, we do the best we can. The Indoor season is a tool, not an end unto itself. Indoor is a bridge between XC and Spring Track.
As of now, we have to assume school will be open Tuesday. Unless and until we hear otherwise, plan on practicing after school. The track will not be available for several days, at least. We will improvise. Any necessary changes to our schedule will be posted here.
We have meets on Tuesday, December 29 and Saturday, January 2. If you are not going to be in town, please let me know as soon as possible. I will assume you are available unless I hear from you. The entry deadline for our first meet is Tuesday, December 22, after which time I cannot make any changes. If I enter you in an event and you can't be there, we cannot fill that spot.
Enjoy your day off Monday, but please consider lending a helping hand to neighbors who may need it. If you have neighbors - elderly, sick, disabled, etc. - how about shoveling their driveway and sidewalk? And how about doing so for free? Digging out from this storm is going to be difficult, if not impossible, for some people. Man up.
