Track and field age divisions

Youth Age Divisions
Youth competitions typically take place in two-year age divisions. These age divisions provide young athletes the opportunity to compete with other athletes of similar ability. The age divisions for competition year 2010 are as follows:

Athletes who are still 18 through the final day of the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships are eligible to compete in the Young Men's and Young Women's divisions through that meet. This extended eligibility does not apply to cross country events.
AAU
The Athletics Program is comprised of nine divisions. The athlete’s year of birth shall determinethe age division that he/she will compete in. The age divisions for competition year 2010 are as follows:

Young Men/Young Women** 1991 - 1992** *Athletes who are eighteen (18) year of age through the final day of the National Track & Field Championships shall be eligible tocompete in the Young Men’s and Young Women’s division through that Track & Field meet. Anyone who reaches their nineteenthbirthday on or before the last day of the National Championship Meet (AAU Junior Olympic Games), are not eligible to compete inany qualifying meets.
RELAYS: Relays are conducted in the Bantam, Midget, Youth, Intermediate, and YoungMen/Women divisions only. The Primary Division and the Sub-Bantam Divisions may run in theBantam Division, the Sub-Midget Division may run in the Midget Divisions, the Sub-Youthdivision may run in the youth division only in relays.
