Position: Assistant Coach Email: eadjmn@aol.com Profile: In 2009, Jose Nebrida will enter into his fourth season as a Northside Assistant Coach. Jose Nebrida is a National Treasure. Coach Jose Nebrida didn't start running until he was 44 years old, and has become one of the only Americans to run a marathon in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. At the age of 67, he is on his way to becoming the first American to do it twice. He runs with an American Flag in each Marathon that he runs to honor the victims and heroes of the 9/11 attacks on America. Coach Jose Nebrida had a tremendous impact for the Mustangs in 2008, providing water and collecting place cards for the athletes at the finish line, and helping inspire and motivate new athletes to learn the sport. Jose Nebrida is the guest speaker of honor at road races throughout the United States and has also been the featured speaker at High school assemblys throughout Chicago. Nebrida has receive recognition nationwide. In Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills's California home, one wing of the house contains a sports museum. The museum features, among other things, a pair of boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer of all time, and a basketball signed by Bulls legend Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time. In the museum, there is only TWO marathoners. The first one is Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills, and the second one is Northside Assistant Coach Jose Nebrida.
