On Sunday, November 12, 2017, the Marist Cross Country TEAM was honored at the East Bank Club in Chicago, Illinois. Marist hosted the most spectacular Cross Country banquet in Illinois.

The Marist Cross Country awards banquet is one of the most meaningful events of the school year. It represents the official acknowledgement of the athletes accomplishments before the entire Team, administration, parents, and guests.

A record 80 athletes, parents, and guests were in attendance! Marist athletes, coaches, parents, and distinguished guests started the afternoon with an incredible Italian Buffet. Everyone took several trips through the buffet line, it was one of the most amazing meals the Team and coaching staff ever had in their entire lives.

Marist Head Coach Jon Gordon, first honored the Marist parents, each member of his Coaching Staff, and the Marist athletes.

Cross Country is the ultimate Team sport. It teaches you to push yourself harder than you ever thought you could, and at the same time, your performance means everything to the other runners on the TEAM.

The 2017 Cross Country season was the most successful seasons in Marist history!! Marist qualified for the IHSA State Championships as TEAM for the first time in 19 years (1998).

The Illinois High School Association's nearly 800 member high schools are spread out across the 57,918 square miles that constitue the Land of Lincoln. After the IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional Cross Country meets, the field was down to the 25 best remaining Teams in Illinois for the STATE Championships.

The Marist Varsity Men upset St.Viator to finish in 24th place at the IHSA State Cross Country Championships!

6 of the 7 athletes that competed at the STATE Championships ran their career best time!!
