A Message from our President, Dave German:
Dear Parents and Players of South Tampa Sticks and Plant Lacrosse,With our season rapidly approaching, I wanted to update you on our preparations. Thanks to your generous support in these challenging times, we have secured enough in donations to move forward with lights for our Anderson Fields. Since last season, we have raised over half of the $110k needed to pay for the lights. We have financed the balance and worked the payment schedule into our operating budget. The bids are in and we are working through the paperwork as I write this. Our intent is the have lights on one and half fields by the time our season begins. We will continue to use Foster and Coleman for youth and middle school practices, but all games are scheduled for our Anderson facility. Our high school programs will practice at Anderson. Of course, all this is contingent on completion of our construction by January 18th - start date for all programs. But this is only the beginning. We still have 2 more fields to build and light, and a concession/restroom building in our plans. Your continued support and contributions are critical to developing our lacrosse facility.2010 Teams: we will be fielding our STS youth programs under Coach Shaler (2 competitive teams and 1 rec team)STS Boys Middle School (2 teams) under Coach KamenSTS Girls MS under Coach HowardSouth Tampa Boys JV (depending on numbers)South Tampa Boys Varsity under Coach John Guyton (moving up from Middle School)Plant Boys JV under Coach BottnerPlant Boys Varsity under Coach ShawPlant Girls Varsity under Coach Werry.Tryouts for both boys varsity and girls varsity will take place during the first weeks of practice. Our coaches have had a good look at boys during our fall ball sessions and the girls have a pre-tryout session in early January. We look forward to fielding top quality teams with the great talent we see at all levels of our program. Plant Boys Varsity will play in-school teams only this year and seek our unprecedented fifth West FL Lacrosse League regional championship and fifth straight state playoffs. Our Plant Girls Varsity will look to secure our first regional championship after a close shootout last season. And our South Tampa Varsity is a new team that will represent our program in the highly competitive Sunshine State Lacrosse League featuring community varsity teams that are not directly affiliated with one school. Please check our websites or check with your coaches for details and information on practice dates and games schedules. Registration for the 2010 Season will be up and running on the STS website at www.stickslax.org by this weekend.
Thank you for your support.
