Thank You - Romney Shelepak

After 9 years of dedication and service to the STHA as a Board Member, Romney Shelepak has decided to move on.

Romney has served in many of the most demanding and thankless roles in her years as a Board Member (most notably Treasurer and Scheduler), and her contributions to the organization are immeasurable.

Romney has agreed to continue to work with the new scheduler throughout this year as we transition the role.

The STHA Board of Directors would like to sincerely thank Romney for her many years of dedication and service to the STHA.

 Thank you Romney!

USA Hockey Age Classification Name Changes

At their recent Annual Meetings, the USA Hockey Board of Directors voted to remove references to age classifications using Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget, and instead refer to them using age categories.
Age categories will now be referred as:
 18U (Formerly Midget 18U)
 16U (Formerly Midget 16U)
  14U (Formerly Bantam)
 12U (Formerly Pee Wee)
 10U (Formerly Squirt)
8U (Formerly Mite)
The birth year groupings will remain unchanged.  We will be updating the website to reflect these changes.  Old habits are hard to break, but we will use the new designations going forward.

Update on Potential Pee Wee "C" Travel Team

Thank you to everyone who has expressed an interest in the STHA forming a third (“C”) travel team at the 12U level. The Board is currently weighing options on how to proceed with this proposal.

The Board is currently in the process of laying out the 2016-2017 ice schedule. We need to assess whether enough weeknight ice exists to field another travel team, as well as alternative options including potential late-afternoon and weekend ice time for this team. We must also carefully weigh how this option would impact our house program.

The May STHA meeting is the annual meeting where new officers are elected and the upcoming season's budget is discussed. There is no open floor discussion or Executive session at this meeting.

The potential 12U "C" team option will be formally discussed at the June board meeting. We would invite anyone interested in giving their thoughts to attend the June meeting. The date of the June meeting will be determined at the Annual Meeting in May and posted to the STHA website and Facebook page.

We also wanted to make everyone aware that in the event a 12U "C" is approved, there will be a separate tryout held for the team. The tryout would be expected to take place sometime during last two weekends in August.

Thank you for your patience. Please feel free to contact the Board if you have any additional questions.
