Pitching Videos

Fastsports.com, a local website dedicated to fastpitch softball news, information, and discussion, has recently posted two sets of videos that are essential for any player who wants, or may want, to pitch fastpitch softball.  They are also essential for anyone who coaches softball, or coaches a young pitcher.

The first set is published by the National Federation of State High School Associations, and it clearly demonstrates the most commonly argued and misunderstood aspects of a legal pitch; the leap, the drag and the crow hop.  These videos are also an excellent resource for umpires, as they describe what to call and who should call it in a two umpire system.

The second set is a series of interviews by Cat Osterman for StackTV.  Cat is one of the games legendary players, and argueably one of the best pitchers ever to play the game.  Cat covers topics ranging from motivation to wrist snap to learning to pitch, and offers some interesting insights into the game.

Both sets of videos are linked from http://www.fastsports.com/tips/tip37/index.shtml.

Leadoff Potluck!

Leadoff Potluck!

Monday, April 14th
6-9:00 PM
St Francis High School
Commons Area

Every year we start our summer season with the leadoff potluck.  This is an opportunity for the teams to meet each other, the coaches and parents to meet, and for us all to build the “team” attitude that is so important to our program.
We will be having a raffle for some door prizes, some vendors on hand for any items you may still need before the season, lots of good food, fellowship, and hopefully fun for all.   Used helmets will be available through the association at $5.00 each.

Our program is built on the foundation of being One Team, one community; please come and share in that community.

Each family is asked to bring something to share, by age group:

10U – Side Dishes, Salads, Veggies

12U – Main Dishes

14U – Desserts

16U – Drinks and chips

The coaches will be handing out uniforms and tournament schedules, and will be meeting individually with their teams.   We will also be looking for volunteers for team managers, team reps, coaches and assistant coaches.  If you cannot attend, please contact your coach or coaches as soon as possible.
