Welcome to the Home of the Sterling Strike Force!

The Sterling Strike Force are a U-12 boys travel soccer team sponsored by the Sterling Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) soccer club, located in Sterling, Virginia.   The Strike Force compete in the National Capitol Soccer League (NCSL) and are coached and trained by Marcelo Larussi from 'Soccer the Brazilian Way'.   Coach Marcelo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and played professionally for the Boca Juniors from 1983 to 1989.   He continued his career with Corporacion Deportiva Tulua from 1991 to 1992, and Club Atletico Guadalajara in 1993.   The head coach of the Strike Force is Joe Linza with Mary Hamdan as the team manager and Ziad Sleem as the goalie coach.

Fall 2005 marks the beginning of the fifth season of NCSL play for the Strike Force.   The team opened the season strong as finalists of the Champion Division in the Dulles Tournament.   Additionally, they were finalists in the Bull Run Challenge Tournament in May 2005.

Whether you are new to the area or just have the desire to play travel soccer, now is a great time to check out this exciting team.   The Strike Force currently have roster openings and interested players are asked to contact Coach Joe Linza.

Strike Force Finish NCSL Season with 4 Wins and 4 Losses

The Sterling Strike Force finished the Fall 2005 NCSL season with 4 wins and 4 loses.   Their bid for a winning season came up short as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the first place Gunston Gunners on the final weekend of the season.

The team has a two week break before it competes in the Hunt Country Classic tournament during the weekend of November 19th.   This will be their final event of the year and after that, the team will take a well deserved break until they resume training in January 2006.

Sunday, August 28
Strike Force are Champion Division Finalists at the Dulles Tournament !

Congratulatons to the Strike Force for thier successful run at the Dulles Tournament this weekend!

On Saturday, the team advanced to the Champion Division semi-final with a 4-1 win over the Chantilly Chaos and a 2-0 loss to the BRYC Blackhawks.

In the semi-final game on Sunday, the Strike Force played tremendous team defense and capatalized on thier own scoring opportunities to beat the GSC Gunners 2-0.

The rematch was then set against the BRYC Blackhawks in the final.   The Strike Force and the Blackhawks fought to a scorless tie after 60 minutes of regulation play and 20 minutes of overtime play.   The Blackhawks then prevailed 4-3 in the penalty kick shootout to win the championship.

Strike Force Prepare for Fall 2005 Season

The Sterling Strike Force are set to begin the Fall 2005 NCSL Season.   The team will open its week-long training camp on Monday August 22nd at the NOVA fields.   The camp will be held from 5pm until 8pm each evening and is being conducted by trainers from 'Soccer The Brazalian Way'.

Camp will break on Friday and the Strike Force will roll right into the Dulles Tournament on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th!   Click 'Tournament Plans' on the menu to the left to learn more about the dates and times of the games.

Strike Force to Participate in the SYSA 4 v 4 Festival

The Sterling Strike Force will participate in the upcoming SYSA 4 v 4 Festival.   The festival is sponsored by DC United and will take place on Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th.   The Strike Force will field 2 teams, both of which will play all of their games on Saturday at the NOVA fields.

Strike Force 1 (Adam, AJ, Anthony, Johnny, Kevin and Michael L) will play in the U12 boys Red Division in round robin format.   They will play on NOVA field #9 at 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

Strike Force 2 (Anthry, Faris, Jamal, Justin, Matt and Trevor) will play in the U12 boys White Division which is also in round robin format.   They will play on NOVA field #7 at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm.

Come out Saturday, July 9th and cheer on the 'Orange and Black'!

Strike Force are Finalists in the Bull Run Challenge !

Congratulations to the Strike Force for their successful team effort this weekend.

The Strike Force came out strong on Saturday with two victories.   The first over the FCSC Lions, 3-2, and the second over the VSA Heat, 6-3.   On Sunday, in a pressure filled battle the Strike Force pulled out a 1-0 victory over the VISTA Blackwatch to advance to the finals.

In the championship games the Strike Force played valiantly and held the score to 0-0 against the GRFL Blue Vipers 93 until the last 30 seconds when a penalty kick in the box gave the victory to the GRFL Blue Vipers 93.
