Set up a Scouting Report with this information seen here on this example.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU START AS EARLY AS 8TH GRADE TO BEGIN YOUR COLLEGE SEARCH.

BEGIN BY GOING TO THE COLLEGE WEBSITES, RESEARCHING THE TEAMS AND ACADEMICS OF THE SCHOOLS YOU MAY BE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING. DON'T FORGET TO CONSIDER THE IMPORTANCE OF CITY, URBAN AND RURAL LOCATIONS.

FILL OUT THE RECRUITING QUESTIONAIRE AVAILABLE ON THE COLLEGE ATHLETIC SITES WITH AS MUCH INFORMATION AS YOU HAVE TO DATE. DON'T BE AFRAID TO DO THIS YEARLY TO KEEP YOURSELF TOP OF MIND TO THE COACHES. D1 AND D2 CANNOT CONTACT YOU TILL YOUR JUNIOR SUMMER, BUT YOU WANT TO BE IN THEIR RADAR. D3 GETS 1 CONTACT, NAIA CAN CONTACT AS MUCH AS THEY LIKE.

YOU CAN USE A REGULAR CAMERA TO TAKE VIDEO, CREATE A YOU TUBE PAGE AND EITHER USE THIS PAGE FOR YOUR VIDEO TO COACHES OR AS A SIMPLER METHOD FOR UPLOADING TO A FACEBOOK ATHLETE PAGE. HERE THE COACH CAN GET TO KNOW YOUR PERSONALITY AS WELL, IF UTILIZED PROPERLY. PICS ARE A GREAT WAY TO HAVE FACIAL RECOGNITION WITH THEM. AND AT THE BEGINNING OF CLUB SEASON DON'T BE AFRAID TO EMAIL YOUR INTEREST TO THEM AND GIVE THEM A HEADS UP ON YOUR CLUB SCHEDULE, ESP. THE QUALIFIER'S.

KNOW THAT THE QUALIFIER'S ARE A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THE RECRUITING PROCESS. HERE YOU WILL MEET QUALITY COMPETITION TO SHOW OFF YOUR SKILLS TO THOSE WHO ARE WATCHING.

10 Biggest Mistakes Parents Make

NAIA play level. Some think there is a huge difference in level of play I think this clip shows that it is not as big a difference as most think, the real difference is likely the level of time you want to commit to your sport during college.

Know this MSHSAA rule:
12. Contact with Coaches –

Dead Periods

  • Fall Sports: The period from Aug. 1 until the first allowable practice date for fall sports is a seasonal dead period in which no "contact" takes place between school coaches and students enrolled in the member school, or who will be enrolled in the member school during the upcoming school year.
  • Winter and Spring Sports: There is a seven day dead period for contact with coaches prior to the first allowable practice date for the sport concerned.

Camps and Clinics

  • During the school year outside of the school sport season, you may attend a non-school sponsored specialized sports camp(s) or group instruction, provided: it does not result in any loss of school time, attendance does not occur within seven (7) days of the start of the school sport season for the sport concerned, it is not a team camp, no competition occurs other than limited scrimmaging, and no member of the coaching staff of the school you attend (or will attend) is involved in any way.
  • During the school sport season, you may attend a school or non-school sponsored specialized sports camp(s) or group instruction provided a school coach attends with you, camp attendance does not result in any loss of school time, it is not a team camp, there is no competition other than limited scrimmaging, and a school administrator approves your participation.
  • You or your parents must pay all camp/clinic fees, tuition and other related expenses. A scholarship or waiver of fees shall result in the loss of your eligibility. The school may provide transportation at no cost during the summertime or during the school sport season.
  • NOTE: Before attending any specialized athletic camp(s)/clinic(s) or group sport instruction, you should consult with your school principal or athletic director to make sure it meets the criteria published in the MSHSAA Official Handbook.

Making the College Video

Some basic guidelines that student-athletes should know when creating their videos before sending them off to college coaches are:
1.) Start with a short intro that states name, school, and contact information
2.) Start the video with the most impressive plays because the athlete only has one chance to make a first impression
3.) Use video that is clear and easily identifies each player as well as showcasing a variety of plays that show the talents of the athlete
4.) No music or background noise
5.) And most important…keep it short and sweet!

College coaches want to see verified videos. Click here to create your free recruiting profile and get verified.

ST CHARLES STARS: VIDEO'S

This will aid you in information needed to make your college video's. For your facebook pages you should upload small 3-5 minute videos to You Tube and then add them to your facebook page.

College coaches will not likely take the time to view an entire video, which is where highlight videos come in handy. If you cannot afford the highlight video's try at least sending a Video Log along with your DVD so the coach can go to your exact highlights. Most coaches want to view the entire match anyway, however it is the highlight video that shows them the best of the best and attracts them your way. Here again...the facebook page may help with this as well as in your 3-5min videos should be the best of the best possible. See Jessica's Page here for examples.
