St. Clement Athletics: Positive Coaching
St. Clement Athletics

St. Clement School is the proud recipient of the 2007 Jim Kane Sportsmanship Award. The award is given each year to the school who's program displays the best sportsmanship throughout the season, including conduct shown by coaches, players, and their fans. The winner is chosen by the commissioners of the North Central Parish League, with input from athletic directors, coaches, and officials. The award is in honor of our own Coach Jim Kane, who passed away in 2002.

POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE:
St. Clement is one of 14 northside parishes that is enrolled in the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). PCA is a national organization that provides training workshops and practical tools for coaches, parents and leaders of youth sports programs.

St. Clement coaches attend the Coaches Workshop, where they learned the principles of “Double-Goal” Coaching; someone who strives to win and, even more importantly, uses sports to teach life lessons. The workshop includes research-based strategies, tools, and techniques in sports psychology and positive coaching.

Parents can participate in the Sport Parent Workshop. The workshop allows parents to share their ideas about what they want their children to get out of youth sports, and gain insight into the training the coaches are receiving.

This is a very important initiative within the Chicago Archdioceses. See the handouts attached to this webpage. You can also can visit the PCA website at
