SAINTS CLOSE OUT 2008 GSL PLAYOFFS

The Saints closed out the 2008 summer season by going 1-2 in the Great South League (GSL) Playoffs in Tallahassee, Florida.

On Friday, July 25, 2008 the Saints opened against the Thomasville Bombers with the Saints defeating the Bombers 4-3.  Andrew Dismukes picked up the win for the Saints.

On Saturday, the Saints faced the Florida Legends in game one and lost 4-1 as the Saints gave up three unearned runs on 6 errors in the field.

In game two, the Saints were defeated by the Bombers 5-2 with the Bombers advancing to the Semi-Finals of the GSL Playoffs.

Congratulations to the Florida Legends for winning the GSL Southern Division by defeating the Thomasville Bombers on Sunday.

The Saints split a DH in Thomasville, GA last night losing game 1 to the talented Florida Legends 2-1, and the Saints bounced back to defeat the Thomasville Bombers 11-6.  Game 1 starting pitcher Shane McIntyre picked up the loss in a tough game of questionable calls at the plate. 

In game 2, home runs by Joey Rivera and Mike Lane sparked the Saints offense behind 5 solid innings of pitching by Rob Strecker (2-1-1).

SAINTS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON VS. THOMASVILLE BOMBERS

The Saints close out the 2008 regular season at home vs. the Thomasville Bombers at 6:30 PM at Sandalwood High School.  Come out and support the Saints as they prepare to travel to Tallahassee on Friday to bein a double elimatation tournament.

Games are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 25-27th. The complete brackets are listed on the web site under "News".
The North Division Tournament will be held at Clarke Central High School in Athens, GA.
The South Division Tournament will be held at Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Division winners will meet in Macon for a 3 game Championship Series at Luther William Field. The dates will either be July 30, 31st or August 1, 2. We will keep you appraised ASAP.
The Great South is a 12 team College Summer Baseball League with teams in 3 states (Georgia, Florida, and Alabama). Harvey Cochran, President of the Georgia Dugout Club is the Commissioner. The league has plans to expand to 20 teams in 2009.

Saints Win 2 out of 3 against Athletics

The Saints headed to Conyers, Georgia for a three game set against the Mentium Athletics.

Sophomore Carrick Tuck (1-0) from Santa Fe Community College pitched 5 quality innings scattering 2 hits, 1 run, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Sophomore Tim Griffin came on in releif and allowed 1 run on 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3.  Sophomore Rob Strecker closed out the eighth and ninth innings scattering 2 hits, no runs, no walks and 3 strikeouts to pick up his first save.  On Offense, Freshman Jamie Moore was 2-5, with 2 RBI's and 1 run scored to lead the Saints offense.  Freshman Vince Ratto, Shane McIntyre each had an RBI a piece.  Final score was 5-2.

In game 2, the Saints bats were quiet as the Mentium Athletics defeated the Saints 3-0.  Sophomore Jonathan Gaines (0-1) took the loss for the Saints.

 In game 3, the Saints were led by solid defense and pitching as Sophomore Matt McCracken (1-1) picked up his first win of the summer going five innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 4.  Freshman Shane McIntyre came in releif to shut down the Athletics in the 6th and 7th innings as the Saints defeat the Athletics 8-4.

Game 1 for St. Augustine Saints in Tallahassee, FL

The St. Augustine Saints will play their first game of the season in Tallahassee, Fl against the Florida Legends on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 6:00PM.  Report time is 5:00PM at Tallahassee Community College. 

Jacksonville/St. Augustine area players should meet at the Walmart parking lot on San Jose (Mandarin) at 1:30 pm.  All players should wear their grey paints, temporary red shirts with numbers will be given out before the game.

SAINTS TAKE THREE FROM BOMBERS

The St. Augustine Saints improved to 10-5 this weekend by defeating the Thomasville Bombers at home taking three games of the set.

SAINTS WIN AT HOME 8-2

July 23, 2009  St. Augustine, Florida

The St. Augustine Saints 15-10 (13-9 Conference) defeated the World of Baseball Angels 8-3 as Greg Koehler (University of North Florida) picked up the win for the Saints going 5 strong innings allowing no runs.

The Saints travel to Gainesville on Friday in a conference double header against the North Florida Stars at 4:00 PM as the Saints close out conference play for the 2009 summer season.

On Sunday July 26, the Saints travel to Thomasville, Georgia to take on the Thomasville Bombers in a non-conference game at 4:00 PM to close out the regular season.
