Welcome to the Colorado Stars - Burns 16A girls fastpitch website. This site is designed to promote Boulder Girls Competitive Softball, a division of the Boulder Valley Girls Softball Association, and the players of Dan Burns' 16A summer tournament softball team who will compete nationally in ASA and Triple Crown tournaments. This team is based out of Boulder, Colorado and is comprised of girls from the Denver front range area.
The 2000 and 2001 Stars were the Colorado State USSSA and ASA, 18A level Champions, ASA 18A Regional Champions and USSSA 18A National Champions. The 2002 Stars competed in the 2002 ASA Nationals in Rockford, IL.
In 2003, the Stars began play at the ASA Gold level. They competed at the Gold Nationals in Salem, OR after tournaments in Newark, NJ, Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Kansas City, KS among many others.
In 2004, the Stars - Burns played at the Gold level and competed in Irvine, CA twice, Phoenix, AZ, Killeen, TX and at Gold Nationals in Atlanta, GA where they finished tied for 33rd out of 64 teams.
In 2005, the Stars - Burns were the CO USSSA Colorado State champions and placed 4th at USSSA Nationals in Shawnee Mission, KS.
In 2006, the Stars - Burns played in showcase tournaments in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Orange County, CA and ASA Gold Qualification tournaments in Houston, TX and Blue Springs, MO. It hosted and played in the Independence Day Tournament in Boulder. It played in USSSA Nationals in Kansas City, KS finishing in 2nd place after winning the USSSA Colorado State Championship. The team played in ASA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City, OK.
The 2007 Colorado Stars Gold - Burns won the Stazio, Rocky Mountain Classic and Pikes Peak Invitational tournaments and played in the Surf City Exposure Tournament, the Independence Day Tournament, Gold National Sector qualifiers in Houston and Boulder, winning their bid in Boulder to Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City. They also played in the Surf City Showcase and the Houston Showcase tournament.
Dan Burns and his coaching staff coached an Adult Women's Fastpitch team in 2008. This team consisted of players who returned from college and who had previously played for Dan Burns.
In 2009, Dan Burns returns to summer team coaching. His 2009 team will be comprised of local players who will compete at the 16U A level. We look forward to a wonderful season.
